Exactly what about this product is low maintenance?

I had a large Trex deck installed and selected the light caramel color because I was told I could hose it off to clean it. Well now all of the “stringers”. Underneath the deck have rotted out. The contractor never said anything about the product that the deck is installed on. Will cost a small fortune to repair.

    Hi, we designed/ built this deck from scratch. From the concrete footings deep in the ground up through the brand new joists/ beams with low maintenance Trex decking and Fortress aluminum handrail. Sounds as if your chosen contractor decided to cut corners and use your existing frame. We would never suggest that and as a policy do not work with existing structures. 100% of our builds consist of brand new material. The way it should be. If any of your composite decking is failing you most likely have a warranty and should be able to file a manufacturers claim. Gods luck !

    Sadly the contractor out down new wood but it isn’t holding up. Trex has been no help. Just so disappointing to spend over $20,000 on this deck and 8 years later its toast

    Very sad to hear the trouble your having with your contractor. When we build a deck we us Great Southern framing which has a lifetime warranty against wood rot
    The Trex decking carries a 25 year warranty. Claims are always unfortunate and any time we have seen one with either company ( Great Southern/ Trex) the warranty claim was satisfied. You may want to ask your contractor for material invoices on the framing and decking. Then file the claims on your contractors behalf.
