Kitchen backsplash

I'm replacing my backsplash. Wanted to know if I should tile the empty wall to the left and right of my cabinets. Installing a hood and tiling to the top of the cabinets.

      You need to remove the 4" backsplash. Can you post a picture straight so we can see the left & right spaces

      I see no need to tile the walls. If you want an up to date look you should remove the lower bit of backsplash that currently goes with the countertop.

      I hope you choose a quieter backsplash than what is there now.

      too busy for the countertops....something simple and classic would be less likely to date and will provide better balance
