Lighting plan help

Hello,

We are almost to the electrical phase of our new construction home and I just found out that lighting places around here don't do recessed lighting plans. The electrician just asks the home owner where to place them. I would prefer to come up with a more detailed plan. I have done a little bit of research on these forums and the attached plan is what I have come up with. I think that the can lights and pendants should cover the lighting in every room except for the great room. I am trying to not go overboard with the can lights in that room. The fan in there will have 3 lights on it and we will supply the rest through lamps.

I would appreciate any advice that I can get.

In areas where you want more intimacy (Family Room, Master Bedroom), light from lamps and sconces increase your feeling of comfort. You don't need to see everything in the room, so overhead lighting should be minimal. Kitchens need LOTS of light, but on counters, which means that undercabinet lighting is necessary. (Your shadow will spoil most light from the ceiling.)

Which House Design program for home computer ?

I am familiar with handling my old program (on a DVD !! ) which now turns out to be too old for my new laptop . Having purchased 1 (upper end) program which was meant to help me design several options of house plans I had to return/cancel it because of malfunctions. Having bought a 2nd (also upper end) program for the same purpose I am struggling with bad instructions + a lack of default choices + a lack of straightforward tabs/links. Can anyone recommend a program 1) which works well 2) which does not require a psychic for understanding instructions 3) which offers standard terminology for a European application (rather than in the USA) Grateful thanks.

Pls help with floor plan design

Gm everybody, My wife and me are trying to design our new kitchen, and we are a bit concern about its location in the house. This is a DIY project, so we are looking for opinions. As you can see in the picture, we are creating the kitchen room at the left bottom side and keeping a garden at the left upper. Our first idea was to locate the kitchen close to the living door (upper in the picture) but we would like to mantain the garden. Thanks in advance for any kind of help!! Rodri

A new light-weight extension on top of an existing house from the 90's

NEW PROJECT: Built in the 90's this post-modern house was conceived in the spirit of its time. Its top floor had a classical Greek-inspired coronation which seemed witty and clever at the time, but it gave the house a very dated look. Even worse, its shape and volume, blocked the amazing sea views of the mediterranean from the house. Rardo architects proposed to demolish this old volume and to create a new floor on top. Taking elements from the existing metallic structure at the ground floor we proposed a light roof with a glass perimeter. The concept was to create a total open plan space, so its owners could enjoy from this new elevated study-living space to retrieve and enjoy the views with friends and family, and relax.
