A new light-weight extension on top of an existing house from the 90's
NEW PROJECT:
Built in the 90's this post-modern house was conceived in the spirit of its time. Its top floor had a classical Greek-inspired coronation which seemed witty and clever at the time, but it gave the house a very dated look. Even worse, its shape and volume, blocked the amazing sea views of the mediterranean from the house. Rardo architects proposed to demolish this old volume and to create a new floor on top. Taking elements from the existing metallic structure at the ground floor we proposed a light roof with a glass perimeter. The concept was to create a total open plan space, so its owners could enjoy from this new elevated study-living space to retrieve and enjoy the views with friends and family, and relax.
