Islands and peninsulas increase efficiency in the kitchen and also add beauty and style, however what is suspended above them is what really adds personality.

So what is or will be suspended over your island or peninsula?

      Don't have (or want) an island or peninsula, so I voted "other". The sled is a cool idea!

      I would only hang something over the island if it really enhanced and improved the room. Most objects, including light fixtures, either block the view of the space or create unwanted distractions. The right decorative lighting can enhance a room but my usual preference is recessed accent lighting.

      We have three pendants over our island. It is our main prep space so good lighting was very important.

      NOTE: To cut down on heat we put LED bulbs in the pendants. Expensive but worth every penny.

      I love the idea of chandeliers over the island or peninsula...however; I am also a very practical person and you may find a ceiling fan is more important to keep the area cool. So as long as it is a gorgeous fan that would be ok too! I am not a fan of pendant lighting...
