“The Kirouac Group did a major renovation of our Kitchen, Dining Room and Family room. We combined all 3 rooms into a single open concept eat in kitchen and family room. We could not be more pleased with the result. To a person everyone who has come to the house since the renovation has loved the results. The project was a great collaboration between Shawn Kirouac, his on site leader and us as the home owners. The resulting design elements and details ended in a beautiful result. I would work with the Kirouc Group on another project and have recommended them to my friends.”

“Shawn Starr of Dreambuilder Custom Homes built our custom home in Jacksonville Beach, completed August 2013. Shawn has an artistic eye and is meticulous in his attention to detail. Our home has many extras which are considered part of his basic construction package. Ceiling detail was especially thoughtful and added to the appeal of our home. Construction materials were of high quality and the 6 inch outer walls adding to the R factor were standard. We appreciate the high quality craftsmanship of the subcontractors who worked with Shawn on our home. Shawn is passionate about his work and made us feel like we were his only clients. In the post construction period, Shawn has remained readily accessible to us and has met his commitment to quality in managing punch list items.”

“I first became aware of Bert Flexer in 2007 when my wife and I bought a lot in Saint Simons Island, GA. After thoroughly researching, evaluating and comparing over a dozen builders, we narrowed our quest to a “short list” of three. Even though the other two had fine reputations and we could see how well their houses were constructed, Bert was simply a “cut above”. We got as far as selecting a house design, but the economy downturn prevented us from selling our house in Florida. Fast forward to 2012, when we were finally able to sell our Florida home. Instead of building on our lot, we opted to buy an existing home – the only aspect of which needing updating was the master bedroom suite and bathroom. We didn’t even bother to screen multiple General Contractors – we hired Bert Flexer - owner of Georgia Coast Design and Construction. We expected Bert to use only top quality sub-contractors - and our expectations were met in that regard – but we hadn’t anticipated the “value added” Bert would provide through his design ideas. What he suggested for redoing our closets made them much more attractive and functional. Equally beneficial to a significant extent were his suggestions pertaining to widening the hallway doors, replacing (rather than adding onto) the existing vanity top, and replacing all of the carpet (rather than just some) with hardwood floor. I would be remiss if I failed to mention that he was instrumental in the design and tile selection for the shower – the feature we consider the centerpiece of the project as there was no shower prior. Looking back on the entire process, it’s clear to me that Bert has a gift for interjecting good design ideas without making the homeowner feel like he has taken over as the decision-maker. He completed the work in a timely fashion and on budget – ensuring at every step that the work performed by the sub-contractors met his stringent quality-control standards. I hope it is obvious that this letter was written without reservation or hesitation, and I would welcome any potential customer of Bert’s to come see the makeover we are so proud of! Zane Schauer”

I was not able to be on site for any of the work, due to the fact that my practice is mainly in the North East USA. Each time the project was as per plans, on time and perfect. “HONEST and understanding. JB goes above and beyond what is expected. My husband and I put a contract on a home that "needed some work". The realtors had several bids from various contractors to show us how much these repairs could cost. We had JB come and take a look, and give us an estimate (for hours)... NO CHARGE. He could not believe the estimates from the other contractors. The roof did not need to be patched (in like 6 places according to the other bids), but completely ripped off and re-done. It was put on improperly causing all the leaks and damage to begin with. And the mold.... yes, MOLD! That was just another nightmare! He said he would be happy to repair it, but to be done correctly, it would cost more than the house. Basically, "run!" And, we did. Thankfully.”

“Portis did a major master bath/bedroom renovation for us. Working with Sam and Molly was so easy. They brought a designer in who listened to our needs and desires and then offered excellent ideas. We worked together until we had the plan that we wanted. From demo to completion, the project went smoothly. They set out a plan, reviewed it in detail with us and followed it. They set standards for the subcontractors - professional, neat, clean up at the end of the day. There will always be hiccups in a project of this size, but they were minimal and resolved quickly.
