“We hired Lori to design a home we want to build in Athens. We already had the lot and Lori's challenge was to design the house down to the last detail working with us who live 3,000 miles away! Not an easy task, but she was up for the challenge. With emails and teleconferencing, using ideas from Houzz, and her 3-D software to help us "walk through" the spaces, we're almost done - and we haven't yet set foot on the ground.
I thought I knew precisely what I wanted, but didn't know how to execute the plans to get there. Lori had creative solutions and offered alternatives I hadn't even considered, many of which are now in the final plan. She's thorough, detail-oriented, patient with a client (me) who changes her mind at times and spent a great deal of time at the onset just getting to know us. When you're building your dream house from 3,000 miles away you'd better be comfortable with the architect you hired. We're VERY comfortable!”

Happy to say that we are thoroughly impressed with the work he has done so far. Van has taken a lot of time to get to know my husband and myself and our style preferences, and is great at listening to what we want (or think we want!) and transforming those talks into a fabulous home design. It's been great to have Houzz as a tool, so that we can communicate styles or ideas that my husband and I may not have the correct terminology to describe.
Van has a great attention for detail and has been able to lead us in the direction of creating a beautiful and functional design for our home. He has made plenty of suggestions that show he understands the style we would like to have in our house (modern farmhouse) and many of his recommendations are in our final plans.
He came out to our property, and from where we wanted to "plant" the house, he made quite a few adjustments to the plans that we hadn't even considered; so glad to have his eye on that!
Van is also great with explaining why things can or cannot be done, and is very pragmatic in guiding us on our choices and the costs and benefits from those choices. He knows how to get you what you want in a design and keep it within a budget.”
