Lassana Diawara and his wife Alison Williams started Lassana’s Landscaping in 2002 and incorporated their business in 2013. The couple first met in a small farming village along the Niger River in Mali, West Africa as Lassana farmed rice on his family’s land and Alison worked as an agricultural Peace Corps volunteer. After a traditional week-long Malian wedding in late 2000, they moved back to Alison’s hometown of Marblehead, Massachusetts. Lassana worked for a couple years at Kipp’s Greenhouses where he familiarized himself on the names of local plants and perfected his English. It was there that he met some of his first landscaping customers. Over the years, word of mouth has been their best advertisement. With a keen attention to detail and customer service, Lassana and Alison have built their business on referrals in Marblehead, Swampscott, Salem, Nahant, Beverly and Lynn.
