ETR Air Conditioning & Heating

ETR told me we had a refrigerant leak in the line where it runs through the foundation, and we required a new line that would run up the eave of the house and into the attic. They also strongly suggested an entirely new system since r22 was no longer used. The tech actually told me ETR would try to up-sale me on a unit larger than what I needed, and that the size unit I currently have is just fine! We agreed to a new unit, but after the new unit was installed I noticed they just hooked it up to the existing refrigerant line the initial tech said was leaking, then when I brought it up to the installation crew they told me there was no leak!!! The comfort specialist they sent out to inspect the home prior to installation also lied when I asked for a quote on a Trane unit which was same size as the one we had...he said it was discontinued and no longer available. I later checked Trane’s website and it is still being produced, I also checked with my neighbor, a long time Trane employee and he indicated that unit is available. So ETR only quoted me two choices, each larger than what I had…just like their initial technician said they would! ETR left me with a “perfect job completion checklist” which indicated all items completed, but a few they did not. So I called and requested they actually do those things before I paid, but they never did even after additional phone requests. Meanwhile they continue to send the bill and ultimately have their attorney file a lien on my grandmothers house, but still couldn’t even provide me with the installation manual that was part of their “perfect job completion checklist”, or my rebate. So I sent ETR a certified letter, requiring signature, about all of this, but they refused to sign for it…I have the documentation! I then sent a letter to ETR’s attorney and received a short letter in response and a $200 check. The letter states the attorney believes the check (my rebate) should take care of my problem! Skip forward and the thermal expansion valve went out one month out of warranty…$1,000 repair! Then just this week water collected in the emergency overflow pan under the air handler in the attic. I had a different company out to join me in the attic for the diagnosis. They determined the primary condensate line was improperly installed which has caused the internal water pan in the air handler to crack…$1,300 repair and 2 weeks to get the part! The unit is also too big and installed in a bad orientation with the attic which caused them to run the condensate line and copper pipe in an awkward way and they didnt secure them so the pvc flexes, stressing the internal plastic water collection pan and cracked it causing an internal leak. The static pressure was checked on the air handler…one end way too high, the other end too turbulent for a reading, and its because they upsold me on a unit too big for the duct work/plenum in my home.

This company repaired a bad job another contractor did with the ductwork to a new addition. They were on time, respectful, neat and did what they said they would do at a reasonable rate.
