K2 Bath Design

My company, Content Craftsmen, has been working with K2 Bath and Kitchen Design for the past year. We really respect their process. They make it so easy for clients to reach decisions by structuring the design and budgeting phases and simplifying the product selection process.

Redo a small bathroom (shower without a tub) in a 1960 home. Remove false ceiling and raise to standard height. Remove large hanging cabinet. Remove partial wall and install all glass wall with shower door. Remove old shower and floor tile and replace. Remove sink and replace with vanity with stone counter. Replace medicine cabinet. Replace all faucets and shower fixtures. Examine adjacent pipe space to determine if shower space could be expanded. The only old component carried over into the new bathroom was a recently-added bathroom fan which had to be moved up with the raised ceiling. They provided design ideas regarding tile selection, the decorative use of tile, shower inserts, and vanity type. They scheduled their work to fit in with our travel plans and began on time. They estimated it would take three weeks (I thought it would have been longer) and described what kind of work would be done and when it would be done. Demolition was done in less than two days and the new walls, floor bed, and ceiling were readied by early in week 2. Once the pipe space was opened up we all agreed the shower space could not be expanded. The new tile was carefully completed by early week 3 and the vanity was installed. The vanity counter top and all plumbing and electrical work was completed by the end of week 3 as was painting of the walls. The glass shower wall and door was installed shortly after along with some touch-up painting and caulking. The only issue that stretched beyond the original schedule was treatment of the shower door and wall to shed water done by a separate service provider. All of K2's craftsman that worked on the bathroom were courteous, amiable, and careful to protect the rest of the house as they worked on the bathroom. They were the type of people you didn't mind having in your home. The K2 construction manager was invariably friendly, easy to reach and talk to, and was ready to work with us to make the best decisions about the project and its many details. All of the K2 people seemed to truly care about our project. There was never a discussion about changing the original budget estimate as the work progressed and interesting plumbing challenges became evident behind the old wallboard. Sure, we have some little complaints. We felt somewhat rushed in deciding on the tile vanity cabinet color and had concern we couldn't readily revisit those decisions by looking at actual tile (we're very happy with the end result however). And waiting two months to get the shower glass treated was concerning but it did get done and done well.
