It is unfortunate that Ms. Bowles expectations were not met on this job but this was for reasons unrelated to my work. Specifically, the island cabinetry that the countertop was installed on, had been moved and left insecure. This was pointed out repeatedly and, even facing this challenge, we did the best possible installation, including revisiting the site and making adjustments per her requests.

The tile and countertop removal was done quickly and efficiently. All of the countertop installations for the bathroom, kitchen and dining table were done to industry standards.

My team of expert installers installed all countertops and the tabletop within industry standards of 3/16th of an inch. Even so, to ensure a happy client I brought the team back at no additional charge to make adjustments according to the homeowner’s instructions. A lengthy time was spent by the installation team adjusting and re-adjusting on an unstable cabinet - even marking tape on the edges of the cabinet to show the cabinet was set square prior to installation - then picking up a 500+ pound slab and moving it a number of times at Ms. Bowles’ request.

The following day I followed up with a site inspection. It was obvious the cabinet was unstable and not attached as it should have been. We were not involved or contracted to move the cabinet and so I explained again that the cabinet people need to come back and secure the cabinet.

Counters & Decor is known for providing excellent service and being extraordinarily respectful of our clients’ requests. Renovating can be stressful when you put so much care into updating your home. We understand this and work to make it an enjoyable experience but we cannot be responsible for the work of other parties. I have spent years developing a process that offers my clients convenience, transparency, clear communication, quality, knowledge, comfort, and, above all, professional results - something all of my other customers can attest to.

I am so pleased you thought to contact me again after 6 years. Your previous place was beautiful (photos att.) You loved the combination of colours so much you wanted to do the same in your new house build. I am so excited for you in your new adventure!

We have done jobs on Gabriola Island, Pender Island, Maine Island and the Sunshine Coast. There are trip charges and ferry costs involved in these. Depending on the material and the human resources available, we can make it the most cost effective.
Unfortunately this was a job that could not be done within the budget and I am so sorry for this as it would have been wonderful to work with you again.
