Anyone thinking of doing business with these people BEWARE. They promise the sun and moon, take your deposit and run. We trusted them to do our home renovation, gave the $10K deposit in good faith. When the time came to start the work they increased the price by a whopping 35% with no explanation. It was take it or leave it and we left without our deposit. They seem so sincere when you talk to them, especially Sophie, but don't be fooled. They did the same thing to 3 more people I know of. BEWARE.

We hired Sophie and Spiro, in order to help us build an addition on our existing home.We had seen that they had built/renovated a few homes in our neighbourhood and also saw that they had received favourable reviews which made us comfortable enough to hire them. We gave them a budget and a list of items we wanted for the final product including final square footage.We were told that we could easily achieve everything within our budget.In addition, a number of things were promised, verbally not in writing,ie.when the start date would be, the removal and re-installation of patio and deck material and that there would be no demolition to the basement.Spiros’ role was to be that of the contractor and Sophie’s role as the designer.Trusting and naïve as we were, we secured their services with a very sizable deposit and a signed proposal.Excitedly we started the process of drawing, zoning and permit applications.During this time we repeatedly asked for a budget breakdown known as a Schedule A.There was always an excuse for not having it done and we were always told that “we should not worry about it”.After asking many times about the permit package we were told several times that they had already been submitted on our behalf.After not hearing anything from anyone for many weeks we were forced to call the City of Toronto and ask what the hold up was only to find that the applications had never been submitted. After consistently following up with Sophie, it would take another month before they would be sent all the while being told to hurry up and empty the house(which kept our hopes up). So we gave away and got rid of almost all of our furniture and emptied all of our closets and cupboards and kept only the bare minimum. The original start date kept being pushed back and more and more questions started coming up.We still had not received the Schedule A and the many promises that Spiro and Sophie had made changed drastically and our trust in them began to slowly vanish.We finally made the very hard decision to stop working with them as it became painfully clear that they had no intentions of honouring their empty promises, as at that time the whole dynamic of the way Spiro would complete and manage the entire project completely changed.We asked for our deposit back on two separate occasions as we felt that nothing was done for the amount of money given.Both times our requests were denied.We believe that a reputable, professional, legitimate company would return our deposit or at the very least most of it as a show of good faith as they had done nothing for the money that was given to them. While trying to sever our ties with Spiro and Sophie we received emails that were unprofessional, peppered with insults and filled with rage that left us alarmed.For anyone who chooses to hire this company we felt it necessary to share our experience so that no one else is misled or at the very least not take them for their word and to get everything in writing.

SeventyNine built our home during 2018/2019 and they were fantastic from helping put the final touches on the plans we came armed with to being responsive and helpful even post build whenever we had questions or if there were any issues (not that there were many). They were professional every step of the way and truly cared about the work they were doing while perfectly balancing our ideas with reality (when needed). No project is without hiccups and it is when hiccups are encountered that the true colours of a person come through, Sophie and Spiros received an A+ at those points as well.

Seventynine Construction are highly professional with specific attention to detail and incredible taste for design. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and her husband and seeing first hand the finished product of their hard work. They are extremely responsive and respect their customer. I have had the pleasure to work on a couple of projects with Seventynine Construction. They are professional, detail orientated and very passionate in making their costumers vision come to life. Sophie and her team strive for the highest quality, all while keeping their costumers budget in mind. We have done a few hvac installations for them and it has always been a very easy process working with them. They worked with me to understand all the details of the installation and made sure to communicate that back to their clients. They made sure to be at the jobsite to insure that all was well and if we needed anything. It is very clear that they take pride in what they do and we look forward to continue working together on future projects.

I am living on the same street where SeventyNine construction is building their projects. I am very impressed! Speaking from a neighbor's perspective they always keep the site and sidewalks clean! For the last two years I watched them from the beginning step by step building their first two projects on this street! There is always something happening every day! Very organized with liable trades. I called them the "extreme makeover construction company" since they start building in our street, our street looks so much nicer with these homes!!!

Both Spiro & Sophie bring their level of care and detail over and beyond the traditional threshold. Each bit of design in each location of their homes are thought out with relevant and practical use, but also with passion for design in mind to suit. Deluxe Stair & Railing Ltd has worked on more than one project with Spiro & Sophie from SeventyNine Construction and currently on another. It's been quite pleasing dealing with the duo from a trade perspective. Very pleased having loyal clients such as them who work closely with their trades to achieve a like-minded end goal.
