Welcome To My Garden

I found Barbara on Houzz and she definitely lived up to the great reviews. I wanted a landscape designer who would spruce up a tired looking front yard. She fit the bill for being passionate and creative, engaged and hands on. I had plant bed near the path to the house which had nothing but a few small shrubs. Also I wanted to upgrade the two beds at the entry way to our driveway. I liked Barbara immediately because I saw the excitement she had for the work on our first meeting. She made me feel very much part of the project as she pulled some ideas together. She was creative but thoughtful. She delivered the work in a timely manner and I have been so happy with the outcome. Although the project increased in scope to what I had originally planned it made sense to do it sooner rather than later. Barbara continues to see things beyond the scope of the immediate project and so this will be an ongoing endeavor. I feel that Barbara and I have a good relationship and that she takes great pride in delivering the best. I trust her opinion and feel she knows what she is doing. She knows her plants and what works. She is also good at relocating existing plants to other areas of the garden if it makes sense. Barbara also cleaned up around the pool area at the back and added such wonderful color to a tired looking plant bed. It makes me so happy to see what an amazing job she has done. I look forward to continuing to work with her. Barbara also brought in a great tree company Friendly's to do some tree work and Dial's to treat the trees and plants. She is attentive to the full needs of a yard and to its long term health. I have been very pleased so far.

We hired Barbara because of her in-depth knowledge of plants and sustainable landscaping, her hands-on approach, and her willingness to work within our budget. She did not disappoint! Barbara turned our backyard from a boring and poorly designed space into a lush and beautiful oasis. Not only was she able to find another home for the overabundance of rocks in our yard (which saved us money in terms of labor and disposal), she was also able to re-purpose most of the randomly-placed plants around our house and incorporate them into a beautiful design. We are looking forward to working with Barbara again on future projects.

After the foliage in the front of our home was decimated by deer in the winter of 2014/2015, Barbara was able to restore our curb appeal. Her selection of deer-resistant and attractive plants has made us very very happy. Barbara selection a feature tree for our yard, planted a fantastic selection of annuals and perennials, and we couldn't be happier! We're going to work more with her this season to extend our plantings to hide some unsightly utility boxes. She's easy to work with, and keeps in mind your budget and wants.

I hired Welcome to My Garden to improve the "curb appeal" of my house, which I was trying to sell in a down market. The house was in a beautiful natural setting, but needed refreshing to bring out the natural beauty of the setting. Barbara was happy to work within my budget, and help me with a more appealing design. My house was under contract not long afterwards. Barbara has a thorough knowledge of plants, and what works best given the level of sunlight, the type of soil, rate of growth, topography and (important for me) what type of maintenance is required (I need low maintenance!). She has a keen sense of design and balance, and it was a pleasure working with her. I highly recommend Welcome to My Garden.

Barbara has been very pleasant to work with. We had to put our backyard project on hold, but during the early planning stages I was impressed with the amount of time and care she put into measuring our space, and the time she spent helping us visualize the possibilities. She brought up a lot of things we hadn't thought about. I look forward to working with her again to finalize our backyard drawings when the project resumes.

I used Welcome To My Garden to redo both my back and front yards. Barbara did a wonderful job creating a special, private space in the back, that makes it seem like it's a secret garden! My front yard was transformed from blah to beautiful, with new trees, architectural details, and color and flowers all year long.

I do not have much experience with gardens, so I was only able to provide brief requirements. The goal was to transform my weed patches (a.k.a my backyard) into something civilized: "It needs to look better and I want plants native to the area." The result was absolutely amazing and transformative. I love Barbara's aethestic and I love the results! I totally caught the garden bug and I happily spent my spare time tending my garden, or simply gazing at it. Everything thrived beautifully and both the yard and I bloomed. I can't wait for the next season to kick it up another notch!

We have been working with Welcome To My Garden for many years. Barbara has transformed the front and back yards of our corner lot in suburban New Jersey, giving us much more curb appeal. We worked in sections to make it affordable. Barbara has a wonderful eye, not only for how plants will combine to make an aesthetically pleasing landscape now, but also for how they will look in several years' time. We rely on her to make recommendations for trees and bushes, but she is also great at listening to and implementing our ideas. She even drove us around town to show us various options. When plants don't thrive, she is quick to replace them. Her workers are prompt, responsible, and tidy. The Japanese garden in her photos is our backyard.

We were putting our house up for sale. Welcome To My Garden spruced everything up - replaced dying and dead shrubs as well as a tree, re-defined the borders, cleaned up overgrowth, and mulched all of the beds. Everything was done in a professional and timely manner. The price was very reasonable considering the size of our property..
