I cannot say enough great things about Patrick and his entire crew. They were all incredible to work with. From the initial design process, Patrick’s vision, and bringing our front yard to life, we enjoyed every step of our yard transformation. Patrick was at our house everyday supervising the project and the crew was incredibly kind and accommodating, especially with two young kids in tow. The yard makeover became more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. My husband and I were a bit clueless about renovating our yard but Patrick walked us through the entire project and brought it to life. We couldn’t be happier and cannot wait to hire him back for our back yard. Thank you for making us the most beautiful front yard space, Patrick!

Patrick and his crew did an amazing job designing and executing on a beautiful backyard for our Mission Dolores multi-unit building. He really listened to our needs - we wanted something low maintenance, within a contained budget and with good drainage because of the building needs, and he addressed every one. And when he started work, every bit well done so well - it landed within budget, on time and as designed. This was all thanks to an incredible crew that he has - Jason, Christian, Pablo, Alex - who worked so tirelessly to get in the turf, concrete, irrigation, drainage, lighting, looking the way it was envisioned. I highly recommend working with Patrick & his team!

Patrick did an amazing job transforming our garden from an unusable space rife with bushes to an outdoor living room that we now spend every day in. We loved his design and plant choices, and then were really impressed with his crew, who were both super efficient, and multitalented. Patrick had the idea to reuse the stone that was previously used for a pathway for a stone patio. The crew executed this vision flawlessly and very artistically. Within two weeks of work, they were done, and we had an amazing outdoor space to relax in. I highly recommend Patrick and his crew.

Patrick and his crew did an amazing job re-doing our backyard! Patrick took our three-unit HOA's wish list for a dream yard and drew up a detailed design and a thoughtful plant list. His team was fast, hardworking, and meticulous in executing the plan. We were impressed by Patrick and his team's attention to detail and dedication-- from perfectly uniform fencing to careful irrigation around each plant. We now have a lovely modern entertaining space with a wooden deck and built-in bench, a soothing water feature that the birds love to bathe in, and a peaceful garden path. Plus cool lighting built into the fencing/stairs/bench and uplighting our plants. Throughout the process, Patrick was sensitive to budget, talked through various options with our HOA, and was a pleasure to work with since he is so enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. We are so grateful to Patrick and his team!

Patrick and his crew are amazing. I absolutely love my new deck and landscaping. The design is exactly what I wanted. Everyone Patrick brought to the house to work was lovely. I can't say enough good things about this whole process. I felt like Patrick really listened to what I wanted and designed something that was perfect for me. He takes tremendous pride in the work his crew does. Overall, the best experience I've had doing home improvement. Highly, highly recommend Patrick. We hired Patrick to completely redo our small SF backyard which already had a large hot tub in the corner. We are over the moon with his design and the installation. From his first meeting with us, it was clear that he has great design chops, knows his plants and wanted to design what we wanted. He “got” us and came up with a design that met our needs. He gently talked us out of a few bad ideas. We could feel his enthusiasm for our project. Now, onto his crew. They were wonderfully skilled and inspired our confidence. They were on time, friendly, and cleaned up after each day. They came up with a creative solution to deal with a few access issues regarding the hot tub. (Our project involved a large deck with expensive wood and we were nervous about it.) There were no unpleasant surprises and everything happened when Patrick said it would. I would hire him again in a heartbeat if I ever bought another house.

Patrick was referred to us as we were looking to upgrade our backyard, mainly adding turf for our kids to play in. We first hired him to put together a plan. It was very quick and thoughtful. He took our feedback and made some revisions, then we moved forward with the project. What we thought was a project that would take several months was completed in less than 2 weeks. His crew works fast and hard. The yard looks incredible, more than we could have asked for. The before and after pictures are amazing. From the turf installation to the landscape design and plant recommendations, we couldn't be happier. Our family highly recommends Patrick.

From the day we bought our flat we've wanted to re-do our backyard. Then 2020 happened and outdoor space became a necessity. After going through an extensive search Patrick stood out as a clear choice. I'm generally skeptical of 5 star reviews and don't often provide them, but Patrick and his crew earned this one and lived up to the high expectations. They've turned our previously unusable garden into my favorite space in the house. I'd gladly recommend him to a friend (and already have). A couple things that set him apart from other designers I met with: 1) Communication/Listening- Responsive and patient with all our questions. While we had a general idea of what we wanted, Patrick took the time to listen first, then provided helpful suggestions on specifics to improve the design to fit our goals. Surprisingly (or maybe not), too many other designers got this backwards and provided suggestions based on their preferences, not ours. 2) Efficiency and his crew- When reviewing other designers in June, they were estimating an Oct start date and 4-6 weeks of construction. I didn't really believe him when he said 2-3 weeks construction and finished by mid-September. Thanks to his crew, it's mid-October and we've been BBQing for a month now. 3) Value- High quality work, completed faster and within budget. Thanks again to Patrick and his crew!

I highly recommend Patrick! Patrick and his team are really top-notch - in just a few days, Patrick and his team completely transformed our backyard, helping us create a beautiful outdoor space. The longer story: We had friends in the Outer Sunset who had us over for a backyard hang, and we absolutely loved the landscaping they had done at their house. Our friends recommended us to Patrick, and Patrick got right back to us, and came by and had a look at our space. Patrick then shared his vision and a quote, and worked with us to accomplish a great upgrade for our backyard on our budget (about ~ $5,000). When the time came, Patrick and his team worked quickly, politely and professionally to upgrade our outdoor space, helping us fix up our yard as we brought our house to the market. Patrick has a really great eye for making an outdoor space pop, while being functional and fun, too. I would absolutely work with Patrick again. Thank you Patrick!

When we purchased our flat in Russian Hill in 2019, one of the big draws was that it had a huge private back yard. The downside - it was basically an overgrown shrub jungle, with multiple terraces and totally unusable for our family. We needed a complete overhaul. After a stellar recommendation from a friend, we hired Patrick and his team. Not only did they do the work quickly, professionally, and within budget, but they took extra care to make sure everything was exactly how we wanted it, even re-doing a few things to make it perfect. Raffa and his team are skilled and efficient! I cannot understate how much this backyard transformation changed our lives. We use the backyard now every single day -- for eating, lounging, playing, socializing, and just enjoying the beautiful plants and hummingbirds who now frequent it. Several people we've had over each separately said "your backyard looks like something out of Sunset Magazine!" I couldn't agree more :) The price tag on a backyard reno will take your breath away a bit, but I assure you it is 100% worth every penny. We've already been told that Patrick's job has increased the value of our home by more than double what the project cost -- and even more important to us is the value we truly get out of it every day. It undoubtedly increases our happiness quotient to a significant degree! I've already recommended Patrick to friends and will continue to do so. Take the plunge and hire his team - you won't regret it!

My husband and I hired Patrick for re-designing/landscape installation for our backyard. Patrick and his team did an amazing job and were always courteous, prompt and professional. Right from the initial consultation, Patrick was attentive about our requirements and gave feedback to what could be done, while staying within our budget. It was easy to communicate with him during the design phase and I appreciate that he was open to editing the designs based on our feedback. The landscape installation itself was probably the easiest, non-fussy home improvement job I have ever had. I'd heard horror stories at work where colleagues have hired contractors for a job, only to have work go on for months past schedule, not to mention rising costs... Patrick's crew was excellent. They showed up on time, were extremely courteous and took their work seriously. I received timely communication from them if something needed our attention and were happy to answer any questions we had. They also helped us fix some areas in our frontyard even though it wasn't part of the work quote. Just goes to show the dedication and passion Patrick and his team has for their work. We are really pleased that we were able to work with Patrick for this project and now have an amazingly beautiful backyard that goes beyond what we could envision. Would definitely hire him if we ever need another landscaping in future. I'd highly recommend Patrick for any landscaping project. You won't regret it

My wife and I hired Patrick Lannan Designs as the landscape architect for our backyard transformation. I'd like to start off by saying that Patrick Lannan and his crew have done an unbelievable job transforming what was an unusable space into a beautiful, functional and state of the art backyard. Every minor detail was well thought out from the beginning including but not limited to the colors, plants, lighting, layout and functionality. Since there is so much that goes into choosing the best landscape architect for your needs , I'd like to focus on some core themes to help describe the partnership so you can make the right choice for yourself. Vision: My wife and I had already done a lot of research on core characteristics we wanted to see in our new backyard. From day one, when Patrick came over to meet us at our house and analyze the space, he really listened to what our vision was and gave constructive feedback where needed. Never once did Patrick turn us in a totally different direction than what we wanted but used his expertise to help guide us through the process. This brings me to the next theme, trust. Trust: The vision of what we wanted stayed true throughout the entire process and this required trust. Throughout every step of the process, Patrick was super transparent about everything that was happening and assuring us that the vision we created was going to show through the final product. Transparency & Responsiveness: As the project proceeded, Patrick was VERY transparent with things such as costs, timeline, issues that arose etc. If anything was going to change throughout the process, Patrick would immediately reach out to let us know what the issue was and come to the table with a solution to the problem. Although my wife and I were away for two weeks during the duration of the month project, the communication was seamless and Patrick's responsiveness was superb. Patrick's communication responses always came with a sense of urgency. Objectivity: Every minor detail for this project was included with a well thought out project proposal. With the built up trust, we believed that all of the details were purely objective. At no point did we feel that the decisions Patrick was making were for his own gain. Instead, it was understood that the decisions Patrick was making was to create the best design possible based on our vision. The Team: Work Ethic, Efficiency & Considerate Patrick already has a crew that he uses for his projects. That said, he is always open to speaking to a different crew if you know someone. We actually did know other people but from the start knew that the best decision was to go with his crew. And yes, we made the right decision. Patrick and his team seemed to communicate seamlessly and feels like they have been working together for 50 years. The first obstacle for the job was to clear out all of the trees in the backyard (there were about 10-15 trees) and I asked Patrick how long it would take and he said a day or two. I stood in disbelief but then he assured me that they would meet that timeline and they did. This is how the rest of the project continued. The team's work ethic and efficiency was second to none. The team was also very considerate. It can sometimes feel like 10 people at your house for 8 hours a day for a month can seem intrusive. But, the team was super considerate throughout the entire project. They cleaned up after themselves after every single day, were very polite with each interaction and created a sense of safety each and every day. Overall, I urge you to consider Patrick and his team for your next project, you will not be disappointed.
