Jock was fantastic! He was responsive, reliable, creative, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. He was understandably very busy, but kept us apprised of any anticipated changes in scheduling due to weather or other circumstances. He guarantees his work and is a pleasure to collaborate with. He landscaped our front and back yards and installed a slate walkway and box planter near our deck.

From start to finish, having Outdoor Living Spaces create my back yard patio and walkway was a great experience. They were very detailed in the planning phase and made sure I understood the complete process. They listened to my concerns and followed through with there promises. They made sure I understood costs and exactly what I was paying for. The project turned out great and its just what we were looking for. I'm telling you, I don't typically write reviews but in this case I'm happy to do it. I would totally use them again and highly recommend Outdoor Living Spaces.

Jock Lewendon is a master of his craft. He has an impeccable eye for landscape design that cannot be matched. Not only does he have immense knowledge but he gets his clients to understand why he is designing the way he does, why he is planting the plants he chooses and how to properly care for them. We have been working with Outdoor Living Spaces for 3 years—since we bought our house—and couldn’t be happier. He transformed our property from a home with virtually no landscaping to a work of art we never thought we could have, given we live in a heavily wooded and rocky area. Jock knew exactly what plants would fit with our challenging landscape and how to incorporate our natural surroundings of rocks and boulders into the design. Jock even reconstructed our whole gutter drainage system, which completely stopped any water from penetrating into the basement. He is consistently impressing us and we will enjoy working with him as we continue with our project.

This past fall 2020, I had a walkway and landscaping done by Jock Lewendon, landscape designer of Outdoor Living Spaces. I found him to be very easy to work with during the entire process of design and installation of our walk and landscape planting. The best thing about Jock is that he listens, and actually learns what you like and what you don’t. He engages you to share your vision in order to design your area according to your needs and provides the professional guidance to achieve your outdoor space as envisioned. Jock was always on time as scheduled, promptly returned my calls, patiently waited out many rainy days, and stayed with my job until its completion. He was able to re-purpose the materials from my brick and bluestone walkways and reuse in a design for a new walkway/path that far surpasses what I had. The walkway leads a visitor towards the front door while enjoying a distal focal point in the landscape. He also solved drainage issues, moving water away from our foundation. I really like native plants, and that is what he used, all the while choosing “deer resistant” shrubs and flowering plants for a perennial garden. I will be using him again and highly recommend Jock and Outdoor Living Spaces if you are considering improving your outdoor living space.

I have used Outdoor Living Spaces for over 15 years. Some of the projects were large while others were very minor. I've probably had work done almost every year. Regardless of the scope of the job, Jock was always there to get the job done correctly, efficiently and on time weather permiting of course. The estimates I've received were always fair. Often times Jock would make recommendations which quite often saved money in the long run. I highly recommend!

After we moved into a home with a heavily wooded lot, we wanted to improve the landscaping, add color but preserve the natural character. I looked around and interviewed several landscapers/designers. Many were great with beds, formal designs, and the kind of landscaping that seems to be typical in suburban neighborhoods, but that isn't really what I wanted. I wanted something that was planned, but that fit with the setting - a more natural expression. Jock immediately understood what I was looking for and even before putting pen to paper saw - an pointed out - visual focal points or subtle ways to reshape a border or contour to enhance the result. He developed and revised a plan and over the last 3 years has worked with us to identify and refine plant selection, staged the installation to coincide with my budget, helped us understand how to maintain our new plants, and added more or different plants as needed. In working together, he taught us a little bit about how to think like a designer and understand what works and why and he paid attention to our feedback and learned what we liked/wanted. This year, the plants have all had enough time to establish and flourish (and those that didn't were replaced) and the property looks fantastic. We have relied on Jock, and the small handful of guys he brings in when needed, to guide us and the results are beyond what we ever envisioned, but exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Jock Lewendon! I cannot recommend him more highly.

The testimonial below I penned in 2012 and here we are at the end of 2019 and Jock has started working his magic on our third property since 1995. Jock has an amazing creative and pragmatic approach and is very easy to work with. Jock's knowledge of and passion for landscaping translates into amazing scapes. Note worthy is that Jock has also worked for our friends and relatives. We can still say that we look forward to many more projects with Jock and Outdoor Living Spaces – can’t imagine working with anyone else. Written in 2012: Our first project (hardscape) with Jock was back in 1995. Our most recent project were a pond / waterfall and landscaping. Jock’s incredible vision transformed a diy project into a spectacular waterfall and pond. Our expectations were exceeded a million times over. Subsequent projects involved landscaping and hardscaping projects and without exception, Jock’s practical yet amazingly creative designs have transformed spaces into beautiful havens. Did a beautiful job creating our house pathway. I think Jock's strongest point is his ability to work with the client to get the best results possible. In our case, we were heading in one direction and with his knowledge and choice selection, we wound up with something we were much happier with. Another strong suit is that once he starts a project (it sometimes takes awhile to get on his schedule) he finishes the project,working daily until the project is finished.

"Outdoor Living Spaces" certainly suits the newly landscaped area in our backyard around our in ground pool that this company completed for us. Both my husband and I are grateful for the thought that went into the creation of what is really an outdoor living space!.... we expressed what we hoped for, welcoming suggestions given by this highly qualified professional.....we can not say enough about the time and care that this company put in to the work they did!

After expressing to a neighbor that we wanted to put in a stone patio in our backyard, he highly recommended Outdoor Living Spaces. We are so glad that he did! Jock was absolutely fantastic! He personally invested a significant amount of time and attention to our patio's design and completion, taking into account the proximity of our driveway as well as our water drainage issues. Just like our neighbor, we were extremely satisfied with the quality of work and price. It came out better than we could have imagined!

There's a lot to like about working with Jock. Outdoor drainage projects are intimidating for a lot of contractors because it can be tough to understand the scope of the problem and fully resolve it. Jock did a fantastic job. He was extremely careful and conscientious about proposing the right solution. He gave us a range of options to choose from and we always felt extremely comfortable with our choice. Jock also wasn't shy about adapting the plan as he learned more about our property and the project - this was a huge advantage to us. We ended up expanding the scope of the drainage and we're very glad we did. Jock also built us a gorgeous retaining wall and installed a number of new trees and shrubs. His care and attention to detail really shine through here. During the course of this project, quite a bit of our yard was dug up, but Jock was very sensitive to limiting the scope of the damage and leaving the project in good condition. Finally, Jock was just an excellent person to work with. He is communicative, understanding, and sensitive your needs. I strongly recommend him for any outdoor project that you're considering.
