I found CLC Landscaping on Instagram and was very impressed by their work. Our job was much smaller in scale then some of the work they do but I called to ask if they were interested and was happy to learn they did smaller jobs as well. Eric came to the house to discuss the options, provided a quote and a list of his suggested plantings. Just over a week later his team removed the existing plantings, updated the beddings and installed the new plantings. CLC recently completed a total revamp of our backyard to include a pool and outdoor living space. Our property was rather challenging with wetland boundaries, endangered wildlife concerns, odd property lines and limited space. Even after several other companies had turned us down on account of complexity, CLC handled the project with ease from start to finish. We couldn’t be happier with our new backyard. We love every inch and we got everything on our wishlist. We enjoy our new fire pit area almost every night. The landscape architect Ryan did a great job and was very professional. Our project manager was AMAZING! He checked in every day and even came back for several days after the job was done. The level of care and attention Gary provided even after the job was done was impressive. He helped me decide on plants that would bring color to our backyard while still being deer resistant. I even got a Magnolia tree which I’ve always wanted. Can’t wait for next spring when all the plants will come to life.

Recently purchased a new home and the front yard was completely overgrown and outdated. There were multiple trees right next to the front of the house that were overtaking the sidewalks and all of the bushes/plants/weeds were growing on top of each other. I openly admit to not being an expert in landscaping but I did have a vision of sizes and colors and Eric ran with it and came up with an amazing design and executed it perfectly! This project totally gutted the front yard and now I have a brand new design that shows off the whole house. Already had two of our new neighbors stop over to complement how great it looks!! We worked with CLC Landscape Design to create our backyard oasis that includes a pool and extensive landscaping and plantings as well as a drainage swale arcing around the entire area. The fact that this project was created out of a steep and wooded slope is where the vision and professionalism of CLC and Rich, Jr. really came into play. In addition to working through several iterations of plans until we finally settled on a design that really felt right, Rich and the CLC team were in constant communication with us about the progress of engineering studies, permits and approvals. When construction began, the clear and frequent communication really intensified and Rich was on site consistently to oversee progress as well as to incorporate the inevitable revisions and additions to the plan. Working with an experienced and creative team was critical to us and led us to work with CLC; this was especially important as we pulled together all of the ancillary pieces including fencing and both ideas and contractors to finish our pool cabana. CLC is knowledgeable and literally a one-stop provider for a major project due to their extensive network of subcontractors, many of whom we still use to this day for annual maintenance of various elements. CLC is also a very responsive and professional organization; Rich Jr., in addition to being extremely knowledgeable and creative, is a pleasure to work with - he listens and he cares and wants to ensure that his customers are satisfied. I always remember during the planning phase that my wife made a comment about how she liked Lavender as a planting; Rich Jr. always remembered that and made a point to incorporate Lavender into the design. CLC recently completed a much smaller project for us in restructuring the plantings on the slope in front of our home. Even through it was a smaller scale undertaking, Rich Jr. again LISTENED to the things that were important to my wife in terms of appearance and was sure to incorporate them into the final product. As always, CLC was responsive and communicated clearly throughout the redesign of our landscape and provided the very same attention to detail that was present in our much larger backyard project. CLC has proven themselves to be an outstanding partner in creating an attractive landscape around around our home and Rich Jr. in particular is an extremely knowledgeable, professional and detail-oriented landscape designer. I collaborated with CLC last year to develop a creative master landscaping plan for my older home and since then, have been implementing the plan in stages. CLC Landscape Design is a great company. We used them to re-design both our front yard and back yard in Glen Rock, NJ. CLC Landscape Design did a phenomenal job designing and planting landscaping in the front of our new house! I did a ton of research and their beautiful work really stood out as being a level above the rest. They are a well-run, family-owned business that takes pride in their work. We worked with Eric from start to finish and he was so kind, patient, and responsive. He put a lot of thought into every plant he chose for us and took his time laying everything out to make sure it was just right. I wanted to make a few tweaks after it was done and he happily came back to make those changes at no additional charge. He even went to the nursery himself to hand pick some additional plants that he thought would look nice with our design. CLC Landscape Design designed and executed a gorgeous overhaul of my backyard--the design team was amazing and have made my modest backyard look much bigger and more dramatic. After seeing some of the amazing photos of CLC's work in magazines and social media and reading about their family owned and operated company, we reached out and met with CLC and instantly connected right away. They seemed much more attentive than other companies we contacted, listened to our ideas, gave great advice, and their vision aligned with ours. Our project included removing some trees, re-grading our yard, adding a small round blue stone patio/firepit, plantings and new sod. While our project may have been a smaller one, we were still treated the same and given the same attention and detail as a much larger project. The design phase of the project was invaluable as the created renderings really helped us envision what the end goal would look like. Next, when it was time to break ground, our initial project manager Alex went above and beyond, even taking time out on a Saturday to go stone shopping with us. When Alex had to attend to a family emergency, CLC quickly adjusted and sent us the dynamic duo of Gary and Pat who immediately stepped in, took ownership of the project, and made sure everything continued to run smoothly. Gary, in particular, was in constant communication with us, keeping us updated on project details and assuring us that everything would stay on track. He's a Zen master - when he says don't worry, we're going to fix this/do this instead/I have a better idea, you just feel confident about the end result. Our foreman, Enrique, also deserves an honorable mention as someone incredibly detail-oriented, who always wanted to do things the right way, no shortcuts. He treated our yard as if it was his own, constantly trying to make everything perfect. We appreciated even the little things he did - like staging plants/trees in the shade to protect them from the hot sun or even coming in on a weekend to water those plants. Everything he did demonstrated the attention, care, and pride in his work. Things would look good to us but not to Enrique's sharp eye, and he'd smile and go over it one more time just to be certain. Was our project 100% completely smooth? Of course not, no project is, but Pat/Gary/Enrique/Alex and the rest of the CLC team always adjusted, tackled issues, gave us advice, and figured out the best way to solve whatever problem was at hand, which left us feeling at ease. And, in the end, after the work was finished, everything was cleaned up, no debris left behind, Gary continued checking up on us, weeks later, to ensure our sod is growing properly. And now we can sit back and enjoy a beautiful backyard that we know was done the right way

Although I've thought about installing a patio for several years... the pandemic "forced isolation" made me get serious. After fruitless searches nearby, I cast a wider net and found CLC Design on Houzz. Their project photos revealed the sophisticated, understated, harmonious design language I was seeking. Their landscape design process is iterative... and we arrived at a landscape plan I was pleased with. Sadly, their project backlog meant I had to wait a year(!) before they could start building it. So I used the time to shop online for patio furniture and accessories (Crate & Barrel, CB2, Frontgate, Pottery Barn). This is no mom & pop company. One week before they started, they dropped off two earth moving machines and a porta-potty. The neighbors were intrigued. I was intrigued. The project manager - Gary - said to me the day they started "Ready? We're going to exceed your expectations". Oh sure, you’re supposed to say that, I thought. We'll see, given my high expectations. Jorge and Pastor - cousins with immense experience - arrived and off we go. They carved out the backyard, hand-laid a beautiful rock retaining wall, constructed a dry well and all the subterranean drainage pipes and garden beds, and carefully laid out the bluestone patio... using various grades of stone underneath, and levels to ensure proper drainage. I work from home and saw it all... day by day. These men are craftsmen of the highest caliber... so efficient in their movements, frequently pausing to make adjustments. On plant day, Gary shows up with trucks (that's plural) of plantings. The neighbors gathered to watch an impressive show... Gary using an over-abundance of plants as if painting with a palette of them... adjusting for views from every angle of seating.. and in harmony with his lighting design. He had to "shoo away" all the spectators so he could carry on. Then.... the irrigation team arrived. I had foolishly told CLC Design I would do my own watering (to save money). Rich - the owner - wisely had me re-consider. Their irrigation company (see their link on CLC Design's website) installed 9 watering zones, which I control via my iPhone. Once the irrigation was laid (including the electric wiring for the outside lighting) , CLC Design laid the sod, cleaned off the patio, tweaked the sprinklers, and carried my furniture (stored in my garage) to the patio. As I sat on my patio last night, reading a book, a neighbor - unaware of my presence - brought other neighbors over to give a tour. I didn't mind... I was happy to "show off" the results. The project was well-managed, well-designed, sophisticated in its many layers of execution, knowledge of stone and dirt and water and plants, realistic timelines and costs, and deserving of my highest praise and recommendation. CLC Design has created a wonderful, understated, peaceful garden refuge... and Gary was right... they exceeded my already high expectations.

As a small condominium complex in Wanaque, we hired CLC to handle both our landscape maintenance and snow removal/ice management functions. Rarely do you find a company that excels at both, but CLC and Rich's team manage to overperform for us year after year. We contacted CLC Landscaping with regard to the of lighting to the front of our property, which was poorly lit and precarious to navigate after dark. Rich Jr. listened to our needs, assessed the area, and designed a great lighting solution, using LED path lights and up-lights, in response to our requests. The pricing was fair and reasonable for the fixtures that we purchased. Nate performed the installation efficiently, completing the work in a single day, and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He also installed the transformer and lighting timer, to ensure that we wouldn't need to ever worry about returning home to a dark house. Rich Jr. revisited the area after dark to evaluate the lighting, and then had Nate return to make some minor adjustments that same week. They both went the extra mile to ensure that the final product was perfect. We've received a ton of compliments on how sharp the house looks at night since the work was completed, and now we don't need to worry anymore about safely coming and going from the house in the dark. Overall, we were very satisfied with the outcome!

We recently hired CLC to provide a full house design with the first phase being our pool area. From the initial site visit with Eric to the design with Kevin and the meetings with Rich Sr. and Rich Jr., they all took their time talking through what we liked / didn’t like and developed a plan based on our input and their expertise of what would work best in the area. Rich Sr. discussed the final details of the layout and proposal with us and then we met with his son Rich Jr. to review the actual plant choices outside prior to planting. The CLC team took great care in the demolition / preparation phase and even preserved some of our original landscaping to incorporate in the new design. We decided to do a complete transformation of a big, heavily wooded backyard to add a pool, large lawn and renovated deck. We got several estimates and chose CLC because they were honest in project costs and promised to manage every detail of the project with no exception. From design to execution, they were phenomenal. They were always accessible, used top notch contractors when necessary, fixed issues immediately, flexible to our needs, managed exactly to budget and every detail was thought of. They had an amazing vision for the property and made it come to life. We were so pleased that we asked them to do the front yard immediately after. We first used CLC Landscape Design on our Townhouse in 2012 with incredible results. In 2019 when we upgraded to a home that was in need of some serious landscape upgrading, CLC was the first company we thought to use. We hired CLC to design, manage and implement a 2/3 acre landscape and hardacape project. The project involved both front and back yards, new lawn, plantings, patio and walkwalks, a pergola, a hot tub, a water feature and fire pit, a new driveway with a paver border and arrival area, rock gardens, privacy trees, lighting and irrigation. I wanted a team that would do everything, where I could approve or veto, but did not want to be involved in day to day management or contracting of the project and sub-projects. My wife and I recently retained Rich, Alex, Andrew and the entire crew at CLC to design and install hard decking, backyard landscaping and lighting to complete our ongoing pool project. Let me start this review by saying I found it very hard to select a service provider for landscape design. The work is expensive and if it’s done wrong it’s very expensive and painful to fix. I have had that experience twice with other landscape design companies that did small jobs on my property so I was very discerning when looking for a company to design the patio and plantings around my newly installed swimming pool. Trying to find someone with the right combination of design ideas, and the ability to execute that design is a true leap of faith that requires you to put your trust into the provider. We interviewed 7 or 8 different companies, all of whom seemed to be able to do the job. In the end, we selected CLC Landscape Design based on multiple meetings with Rich and his team, and the feeling of trust we had in their design and their ability to execute. CLC interviewed my wife and I to understand what we liked in a design and what we were looking for in our backyard. They came back with a beautiful design that included a dry-laid bluestone patio, and a whole collection of low maintenance plantings surrounding the pool. The work was completed over a week or so and the outcome was absolutely fantastic. The CLC team turned a nightmare of a space into a resort like pool that totally blew us away. As they promised, the team showed up every day, were great to work with and made the process totally seamless. What I really want to share in this review however is what happened a few years later when we ran into a problem. When we installed our pool, the pool company was responsible for back-filling and compacting around the pool in preparation for the patio. Based on CLC’s recommendation we even waited some time before installing the patio to ensure the ground would be totally compacted. After a few years, however we still experienced settling of the patio so I reached out to CLC. CLC came out to take a look and then sent a team back to my house to reset the patio and fix the settling. Even though the issue was caused by the pool installer, CLC stood behind their work and fixed an issue they didn’t even cause. Even better is the team went above and beyond and fixed other things that were just caused by normal wear and tear. Now the patio looks brand new! There are a lot of people that you can hire for landscape design but it is very rare to find a company that stands behind their work and delivers such outstanding customer service. I want to thank the CLC team for an amazing initial design, and even more for helping me when I had an issue years later. The patio looks fantastic! If you are considering a landscape design project, large or small there is zero reason not to reach out to the CLC team. Their design was great, the execution of that design was amazing, and when I had an issue they stepped up to get it fixed. What else could you ask for in a service provider. Really great job!!!

We built a new home last year and wanted a landscaping project that would wow. CLC Design surpassed our expectations. From the design to the implementation, CLC Design had an artistic vision that I am not sure any one else could have recreated. There were meticulous about the placing of every boulder, every tree, and every plant. From the very beginning, they listened to what we wanted and helped us get our wishes within our budget. We have chosen to use them for our maintenance as well. We can't wait for the snow to melt and for all the vegetation to come through. I contacted CLC Landscaping Design to find out what to do with some water run -off issues I was experiencing and also how to reasonable give my yard a face lift. Rich Cording came by and spent much time suggesting the things I need to do and also suggesting plantings that would accomplish the face lift issues. He gave me many choices and the price differences between them while answering all my questions. I ended up hiring CLC and the job went smoothly and ended up looking just how it was described to us that day. With the run -off problems solved and the plantings in place I could not be more happier with the process and the outcome!!!

Richard Cording and his son provided us with a wonderful plan of our garden and implemented it beautifully. In addition, when a few of the plantings didn't make it, CLC replaced the dead shrubs. They were quick and dependable. I highly recommend this landscape design business.

CLC was a highly professional, highly creative, and, in the end, extremely economic contractor. They spent a lot of time with us learning what we really wanted, drafted a number of designs and modified them as we asked. Then, when the design was set, they went to work and, in an amazingly short time, transformed what was a rough wooded area full of underbrush and clutter into a natural parkland of paths, well spaced trees and well chosen plants. Couldn't have asked for better. The grandkids absolutely love it.

Not only have they turned my entire home into a garden with their unique ideas and design, they have also been invaluable in grading, drainage, irrigation and electrical support to the property. We are pleased with the work done by CLC. Our landscaping looks beautiful and we've had a ton of compliments from our neighbors about how much CLC's work enhanced the curb appeal of our house. We hired CLC to do a landscape design plan and to install a small fieldstone wall, plantings, and landscape lighting in our front yard. The staff was very professional and responsive, and their work was impeccable. Since the firm is a design-build firm, we had concerns that they would try to upsell us or steer us into more expensive projects but they didn't. In the design phase, the landscape designer tried to incorporate as many existing features as possible, in order to minimize costs to us. We were able to take the design plan and price out different parts among various contractors and landscapers. That said, CLC could definitely be more competitive on pricing when it comes to the implementation. We used CLC for parts and other contractors for other parts of the plan. For the backyard, there is still a lot to be done, but we used a different contractor to build retaining walls because CLC's pricing was significantly more for masonry work than the individual we chose. We could have used another, less expensive landscaper to install the plantings, but we are happy that we chose CLC to implement the design in the front yard. The workers were very detail oriented and cared about the finished product. I didn't need to micromanage them like I've had to do with other landscapers, so that was an enormous plus. They were also very knowledgeable about the plantings so I feel confident that my house will have year-round appeal and the plants will continue to thrive. CLC finished the project in the timeframe they promised so that was important to us, as well. Finally, CLC's employees were a pleasure to work with. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and responsive to questions and requests. I would recommend them to others.

CLC Landscaping was contracted to do our backyard project, including, pool with a waterfall., landscaping, 2 new decks, new fencing, landscape lighting, new patio and a fire pit. Every contractor that they utilized was great, the pool company Marson Pools, was phenomenal. The project took longer than anticipated, due to inclement weather, but they made the deadline. Rich Jr., Rich Sr., and everyone who worked on this project were great. We will use them again for sure. We even had Rich Jr. over for our new pool party to show off his work.

CLC did a fantastic job start to finish - they submitted a detailed, competent landscape design - they were very informative and open to questions, changes and suggestions - once the contract was signed they stayed on schedule - the work was done in a professional manner - this was a complete re-landscape of the entire property - the site was never left in disarray and no collateral damage (sprinklers, landscape lighting etc) was done during the work - the site supervisor and all the workers were top shelf - the work was completed on budget

CLC designed and built a beautiful raised stone patio with a built-in BBQ and a seat wall. CLC also handled the landscaping around the BBQ. We were very pleased with the results and would hire them again.
