I’m so glad I decided to have Su-Yoon from Decluttering Key help with the project of cleaning out my parents’ home. After my mom passed away last spring and my Dad decided to move to a much smaller apartment in a retirement community, my family faced the huge task of sorting items that were collected over the course of 60 years. Su-Yoon led my father and I through the emotional early stages of this project so we could take something that seemed insurmountable and start to see how it could be divided into manageable chunks. She was sensitive to the fact that we were grieving and very respectful and easy to communicate with when it came to items that did hold meaning for us. She was very hands on in helping us tackle piles and reduce clutter, yet always allowed us to be the leaders in terms of decision making. She was also flexible with us as we shifted our goals throughout the process. Su-Yoon had many creative ideas about how to categorize, organize, re-use, donate and appropriately dispose of items we just weren’t sure WHAT to do with! In short, she helped us make sense of things that didn’t really make sense to us at the time. Perhaps most importantly, she was professional, supportive and even fun to work with during a very stressful time. Su-Yoon really made my move a success. Moving is so disruptive, and having someone who knows what questions to ask in order to get started organizing and letting go of things is a godsend. We were emotionally and physically overwhelmed, moving houses. We set aside a ton of time and still hit a wall. We were fighting like crazy, mulling through our lives, going through childhood toys, letters and shelving. Su-Yoon showed up and everything unblocked, flowing a 100 times faster! Su-Yoon has real skill and gravitas. She stands there in her black apron, lighting the chaos, cutting through the fog, and making you feel like the boss of your life. When you’re done with the session, she carts everything away, sets up your craigslist ads, manages your donations, so all you have to do is decide what goes in the box and what doesn’t. She is light-hearted, smart, funny, and skilled. Hire her! We are hiring her again, to help us unpack!

Su-Yoon is truly gifted at her work. She helped me declutter almost a decade of possessions and reorganize our basement. I made all the decisions about what to keep or get rid of, but her presence helped me release many more items than I was expecting. She was gentle and judgement-free through the entire process. She handled the donations for us as well, which was a huge help. Usually we pull together bags to donate and then they sit for a few months until we finally drop them off. I highly recommend working with Su-Yoon, especially if you find decluttering to be overwhelming. She made a process I'd been dreading for years go by painlessly and quickly.

I've worked with Decluttering Key for over two years, and I've been very satisfied with Su-Yoon's services. She's particularly good at helping to gently let go of family mementos and sentimental items, of which I had many. She's extremely knowledgeable about local resources for selling, donation and/or recycling of all kinds of unwanted items. Su-Yoon is personable, low-key, and easy-going, which is important in the sometimes highly-stressful process of going through "stuff." Her schedule is flexible and she is frequently available on weekends, which I definitely appreciate. Su-Yoon is also willing to drop off items for recycling or donation, which saves me valuable time. Su-Yoon Ko of Decluttering Key is a marvel!! I have used her many times over the years and will continue to do so. She has helped me: clean out a very cluttered office so that now it's a wonderful space to work; go through a roomful of boxes that were from my parents' home; helped pack up a basement so we could get a sump pump installed; and helped me plan a complicated move of furniture out of an office and a bedroom so they could be painted and carpeted. What I love about working with her is: she understands how emotionally complicated it can be to do a major decluttering project. One never knows what is going to be found in the process. She wisely and gently has helped me figure out what to hang on to, and what I feel comfortable letting go of so I can have my space back. I think most people find it a bit daunting to hire an organizer because they will see those parts of your life behind the closed doors! Su-Yoon is an absolute miracle worker! A few years ago, I was faced with the daunting task of having to downsize a third of my belongings in a very short time frame. I flew Su-Yoon out from Minneapolis to Sacramento, and for three days, she provided valuable advice and support in the decluttering and downsizing process. She created a sensible yet flexible approach to sifting through my personal effects and boxes of documents in order for me to let go of things that I no longer needed in my life. I especially appreciated that she gave me ultimate agency in deciding what to declutter. She provided both support and resources. Su-Yoon was an absolute professional, and indispensable to my move. Su-Yoon helped me pack up and move quickly, due to my husband’s work relocating us, and did it while helping me declutter as we went so I wouldn’t be bringing extra junk I didn’t need to my new place. Biggest thing to tackle was the storage area in my basement that I had just been gathering things I didn’t know what to do with. She was kind and professional, could not have found someone more supportive. I also hired her to help me unpack and was able to successfully unpack everything and it have a place in my new home (not just on the floor out of a box) which took so much stress and anxiety away as we transitioned to the new place.

My family flew her to North Carolina, and in just four days we were able to go through all of my late sister’s personal effects, in addition to all personal effects I myself had from childhood to present day. We also worked together remotely, and even virtually in just one day we achieved my goal of paring down my personal items to be able to fit into a single SUV because I was moving. Phenomenal results.

Su Yoon was amazing! My husband and I have very different styles and so it was hard to find a balance of many years of trying to get him to get rid of clothes he hasn't worn in years so we could have more space. Su-Yoon helped us find a way for him to be okay with getting rid of things and provided skills so that we can continue to have an organized space!
