Hi Cory, thank you for sharing your concerns with us. I see that you had special ordered a complete king storage bed, not a frame, just like the queen storage bed you saw in our showroom. All manufacturers of storage beds leave space around the edge for ease of making the bed and rotating the mattress. They cannot be manufactured any other way. We have offered to have one of our furniture technicians customize your storage bed with a sheet of plywood and stain it to match your bed so that the slats aren't visible. This is a service that most furniture stores would not have the capability of offering to their customers. The plywood would come out to the edge of the storage bed which would cover the slats and still allow you ease of making your bed and rotating the mattress. You could supply the plywood yourself or we could purchase the plywood for you.
