Minima

15 years ago we acquired a Living Divani sofa from Minima located in Olde City, Philadelphia. The sofa was designed and manufactured in Italy and is of exceptional quality. Yet, a decade with children, no fabric can last! Mike at Minima helped us through the process of selecting an updated fabric and then liaised with Living Divani directly on our behalf to make certain that the fabric would match our particular sofa style (of which there are many.) Working with Italian manufacturers for this sort of thing is impossible on your own. Minima assisted the process perfectly and we now have a beautiful renewed sofa. We are grateful that Minima is dedicated to the design world and consistently supports not only its customers, but the design culture in Philadelphia as well.

They have wide array of quality products from furniture to lighting, rugs, art, and accessories that are either already classics, or often eventually become classics. The gallery is always changing, introducing new designs, products and art from all over the world. It is visible that they celebrate impeccable modern design, ancient to newest artisan ship and technology. Owner Eugenie, having been an artist, designer and avid fashion follower, has years of experience in building relationships with reliable companies and individuals both in local Philadelphia and Italy. We worked with Michael Schmick at Minima to help us furnish and decorate several rooms in our newly-constructed home in the Washington, DC area. We could not have been happier with both the outcome and whole experience working with Michael and his team and highly, highly recommend them. After going to the Minima showroom in Philiadelphia and spending a few hours with Michael, we quickly realized that Minima carrierd many of the manufacturers we'd been considering from various other stores in New York, etc. More importantly though, Michael seemed to really understood our vision -- classic modern, but comfortable and capable of withstanding the chaos of young children. And a dash of whimsy to make you smile in the morning every time you see something! After that one visit to the showroom, Michael proceeded to work with us for months -- all remotely until the end -- by sending us layouts and fabric samples and considering the combinations of the different products we were purchasing either directly through Minima or through other stores in the DC area. He was incredibly responsive. I would send my thoughts on an area and he would promptly send me back multiple options with layouts, etc. He was also sensitive to our budget considerations -- helping us prioritize the splurge items like a stunning Minotti Hamilton sofa balanced against a Bensen bed for one of our guest rooms. Perhaps the most impressive to me though was Michael's ability to combine products in a perfect blend of different shades and textures. (See the photos of our family room as the best example of this.) He also suggested many things that I never would've found on my own (e.g., the beautiful Yerra rug in our foyer).
