****BUYER BEWARE****
I have had the opportunity to work with Ben Schuelke (owner of BSI Woodcraft), and it has been anything BUT a pleasurable experience!
I reached out to Ben, in hopes that he could make my family a custom dinning room table and matching bench. He stated that he could make an "identical" piece of furniture, which was presented to him via photos. Not only did the project take longer than he had stated, he also rescheduled multiple delivery dates (that were made by him), ignored my attempts to contact him, and when the final project was delivered, I was appalled at the craftsmanship & general appearance of the custom dinning table set.
When the dinning room table and bench were finally delivered it was anything, but "identical' to the original pictures that were presented to Mr. Schuelke. When I was looking over the paint job that he had attempted, I was horrified to notice (rather quickly) that there were spots throughout the table and bench that were still the same color as the original wood. The ones that I pointed out to him were on the outside of the bench. When I made Mr. Schuelke aware of these obvious eyesores, he stated that sometimes the stain does not "take" to certain parts of the wood. So, he then stated that we can simply turn the bench inward, so as these inconsistencies were not noticeable. He then proceeded to pick up the bench and turned it inward towards the table.
Then, I further inquired about the finish of the table. There seemed to be some kind of film throughout the table, so much so that I continually wiped at the table thinking there was dust on it. Mr. Schuelke, then stated that it was actually the finish he applied, and that was suppose to help achieve the look that he thought I was wanting to achieve. Needless to say, that was not the look I was not wanting, nor depicted through our initial correspondence.
Initially, we allowed to him to take the table, and right his wrong, but shortly after that my husband and I decided that it would not be to our satisfaction. So, I later reached out to Mr. Schuelke, and decided to cancel the transaction completely. We attempted to negotiate with Mr. Schuelke on a refund of the dinning set, but despite our efforts, he was not receptive to multiple offers made. Ben's solution to the problem was to keep the dinning set that was made and attempt to re-sell it, keep the $2,434 that was paid to him, and take us to court for canceling our order. According to him that was his "right"! Long story short we are still in legalities with this individual. Mr. Schuelke is anything but professional, and if customer service is something you are looking for, look elsewhere.
My husband and I are middle-class hard working Americans. We have two small children, and are honest trustworthy individuals. We came to Mr. Schuekle in hopes that he shared the same values, being that he is a independent small-buisness owner. Not only did Mr. Schuelke display poor business etiquette, he also displayed inept qualities of a decent human being.
Hopefully, no one else has to endure an experience such as this, and I hope that Mr. Schuelke does not continue to proceed in any other business ventures with such horrendous business/humanity etiquette.
God Bless
First picture is how I wanted the table to be designed
Second picture is the staining I requested
Last pictures are the finalized project that Mr. Schuelke presented to us. This was his craftsmanship, and his "identical" take on the project we hired him for.
