I want to start by assuring you that at Cornerstone we always stand behind our work.
Unfortunately, we have not met in person because we are not working directly with you but through a contractor. I would like clarify a few things you mentioned on your report.
1)The reason it took longer to get you scheduled is because the material you ordered was discontinued and sold out in CO. We made sure to let your contractor know that the color you ordered was a discontinued color and we had to get it shipped from some leftover boundless out of state. At that time, we recommended choosing a different color to speed the process but your contractor said you would wait for that one.
2)The slab finish was defective indeed however; we did not notice that until after install because the quartz slabs come with a plastic wrap to protect them from scratching. This is the first time we encounter something like this. When we were informed about it, we told your contractor that we would take care of that but we had to contact the manufacturer since this was not a fabrication defect. We contacted the manufacturer and after almost 2 weeks, they finally called us telling to buy a certain product to take the streaks out. We bought the product and sent our guys back following the manufacturer’s directions and that unfortunately did not work.
Once we let your contractor know, she said that you mentioned that you may be willing to keep the material if we offered you a discount. However we offered you a discount and you did not agree to it (per your contractor). I therefore told them that we would order a new slab to replace your whole kitchen. and we emphasized again the fact that the color you want is a discontinued color meant we would have to track another slab down, which could take a couple of weeks to get. We also at that time offered different colors we could get faster but your contractor told us that you were very set on that material.
We finally found a slab in Texas so we ordered it and once it got here, we noticed that it had the same markings the first slab had. We immediately called your contractor to let them know what was going on an we told them that we would send it to a local company that polishes slabs to get the face re-polished. We should be getting the slab back this week from them. As soon as we receive it, we will let you know if the re-polish worked. Otherwise, I would really recommend you to choose a different color.
3)Regarding the seams on your kitchen, the slab is 56.9sf and you have a total of 53sf of counters. This is a very, very tight fit and the only way we could fit your kitchen is having those seams. We sent the drawings which showed the seams needed to your contractor for approval. We told them that unless you purchased a second slab, that was the only way we could fit your kitchen on the slab and it was approved and sent back to us.
Mrs. MacMurray, our intentions are always to satisfy our customers and make sure you are happy with the end-result. I agree 100% with you that your job has taken more time than the anticipated and this whole delay is due to the fact that we are dealing not only with a discontinued material but we are also dealing with the fact that they were not polished right. But we are committed to completing your job until you are satisfied with the product to the best of our abilities. We have numerous texts, emails, etc. proving that we have been communicating everything to your contractor since day one, which we can submit at your request.
As soon as we get your slab back, we will inspect it and schedule the soonest fabrication and installation time for it.
Thank you very much,
Mike Adame
