Three months after we moved to Ashe County in December, 1995, our two fine city dogs - still in the process of learning the ways of the country - met up with a skunk. Both of them rushed into the house in the middle of the night to roll all over the carpet, just as Helen realized that the suspicious skunk aroma was on THEM. Not being in a position to replace the carpet (or, unfortunately, our noses), Randy rented a little HOST machine and hoped for the best. Amazingly and most thankfully, we were de-skunked after a single cleaning and were impressed enough with the process to start Randy's Carpet Dry-Cleaning Service in the spring of 1997.
