Karen's personal design philosophy is: always create the unexpected.
Karen entered the design arena when she was just 16 and working as an assistant to the interior designer at Tuscan Imports, a New York furniture and design company owned by her family. She quickly developed an understanding and appreciation of fine furnishings, accessories and the art of design.
The importance of design in our daily lives is paramount in Karen’s everyday thinking. “I want to wake up each morning to an environment that fills me with energy," she observes. "Just as my own home reflects my personality and lifestyle, it is important to me that each design project I undertake resonates with a style and character truly definitive of the person living in the space. Each room in your home should bring you a feeling of happiness and wellbeing, so that you enjoy the habitat and truly love being there. Coming home should always be a pleasure.”
Karen Alagna now lives in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., just minutes from Charleston, and maintains a residence in New York City, her home town. Her work has been extensively photographed and published..

All of Karen's resources—exceptional fabric houses, wallpaper artistry in Manhattan, and outstanding furniture and lighting designers—will be put to task. A storyboard will be presented, defining colors, fabrics, wallpapers, furniture and accessories. Time for innovation, action, results.
