Before we get to your specific situation, we would like to point out that we did not mention anything about UL listing on our website until after your fixtures were ordered and shipped.
At Hammers & Heels, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond for each and every client. If we make a mistake, we're the first to admit it and make it right. No questions asked. We even include warranties with every fixture, which is almost unheard of from any other small, USA-made, custom design company.
This, however, is not one of those times.
As we have been discussing in our numerous emails to each other, you asked us to create custom lighting that you designed - you provided us with exact specifications for the lighting you wanted. You did not request UL listing.
This is a custom piece Morpheus Studios and/or Paula Ciper designed - anything you want us to do you have to add to your specification. You designed lighting fixtures to your specification, and we built them to those specifications.
In fact, just to be safe, we requested to speak to your general contractor on several occasions to confirm that the fixture wiring was acceptable for installation. We never received a response regarding that issue. Instead, you personally confirmed and approved your custom specifications, none of which included UL listing.
Now, it seems you do need UL listed lighting after all and are expecting us to remake and ship your lights for you for free.
We've offered to help in every way that we can, but we delivered exactly what you designed. In attempting to work with you on your dilemma, we gave you three options:
1. Ship us the lights and we will UL list them for our standard fee
2. Completely remake the lights, UL list them, and ship them out
3. Contact a UL inspector on your own to visit you and approve the lights independently
Like I said, if we make a mistake, we make it right. Unfortunately, we cannot fix a mistake we didn't make.
We're happy to discuss with you how you best serve client from here on out. Please contact us directly whenever it's convenient.
