California-based Cerno makes distinctive, elegant and inventive modern and contemporary lighting. Childhood friends and founders Nick Sheridan, Dan Wacholder, and Bret Englander share a belief in the infinite power of human creativity. Each with overlapping but distinct interests – engineering, architecture and business – these three have found a way to unite their strengths. Since growing up together in Laguna Beach, California the friends had inventive minds and liked to imagine, build and design. Twenty-five years later, this engineer, architect, businessman have built Cerno, into a leader in modern, contemporary and, not surprisingly, inventive lighting. Watching ideas take flight is part of Cerno’s unique appeal. Taking its name from the Latin verb “cerno” meaning to resolve, Cerno’s fixtures are unique and imaginative lighting solutions. By pushing the limits of the latest LED technologies and utilizing American made materials and labor, Cerno’s light fixtures come to life in their Southern California warehouse. Sculpted wood combined with metal for a wall fixture or expertly engineered cantilevered pendants comprise a selection that is expertly crafted and surprisingly designed. The team at Cerno also enjoys collaborating with other designers. For example, Cerno has worked with visionary designer and founder of Desiron Frank Carfaro in creating the Altus floor lamp for Cerno. The team has also collaborated with the New York design group ICRAVE for the Ignis and Imber hanging lamps. Cerno and ICRAVE share a design aesthetic and belief that simplicity, timelessness and quality should shine through every product. With a variety of creative lighting from simple wall lamps to architectural statement pieces, Cerno delivers on quality, artistry and attention to detail at every level.
