Chesterfield Tile

I hired this company to do tile work in my bathroom. I set the date about 8 weeks out. The day the work was supposed to be done, they called me to tell me they needed to reschedule due to them getting behind because of funerals and also they were short of workers. They rescheduled it for the following Saturday. Saturday came and went with no one showing up and no phone calls. They really did me a favor. I'm going to hire someone else. Recently I have found some reviews that mirror my situation. Glad they didn't show so I can hire professionals to do the job.

The whole floor needing to be replaced in a shower, and the shower retiled after that. After reading a lot of nice reviews for Chesterfield Tile on a popular commercial review website, I was looking forward to getting this smaller job done, because I have two bathrooms at another house that I wanted completely tiled afterward, and this made for a good test before shelling out more money for a bigger job. First, the good: 1). The price was good, in my opinion 2). Everything from initial contact through sales visit and estimate went great. 3). The two guys that came out to perform the work were nice. The disappointments: 1). Chesterfield Tile selected and installed a color for the walls that I didn't agree to. The shower floor and floor tile are fine though - the problem was just with the walls. When I called in to point out the issue with the tile color on the walls, that is when things went downhill, and I lost all confidence in their company. The owner tried various tactics on that call to force me to accept the wrong color including gruffly grumbling "read the contract". Fact is that contract didn't mention any color - we had agreed verbally on the tile's color, and I took the owner at his word that he would do what we agreed to. To his credit, but only after a long and ugly argument, he did eventually agree to replace the wall tile at his expense. My problem was I had lost all confidence in him at that point. I let them finish up the work at that house, went to their office to pay what I owed, and politely fired them. 2). (Warp ahead a few days) The people living in that house (I just own it) waited a full week for the grout to dry before using that repaired shower. Upon first use of the shower, the formerly free-flowing and working drain only let water out very slowly. Long story short, the Chesterfield Tile workers had dropped, or maybe swept, some grout, tile fragments or other debris into the open shower drain, which almost completely clogged it. That cost $412.94 to fix (replace clogged pipes/trap). I have the original clogged parts and pictures of what the plumber found, should the company make the mistake of challenging me, or we end up in court for some reason. Like I mentioned earlier, I had fired them earlier, and am done with the company forever - which is a shame, because I really need a good tile contractor.

Our Chesterfield Tile experience: We requested grey grout that matched the color of our grey ceramic tile and 1/8th inch grout lines. When we returned home, the grout was white and the grout lines measured anywhere between 1/16th inch to over a quarter of an inch randomly all over the floor (not just in one or two spots). The oak threshold they put down wasn't fully covered with their varnish/stain solution and there was a dark blob where a drip wasn't smoothed out. Several tiles weren't level and the higher ends meant sharp edges/corners where exposed. One tile had a 2 1/2 inch crack and instead of removing it, they grouted the crack. When we contacted the home office they were quick to respond and listened to our concerns. They had a team come out to remove/replace some of the most worrisome tiles. They also stained the grout so that it would look more like what we'd originally asked for, but it’s not exactly what I'd wanted and we still have to live with the various grout widths. We agreed to a discount on the price rather than having to remove all the tile and start over. I wouldn't recommend them, or hire them again since we didn't get what we'd expected, but I was grateful they were at least willing to work with us and provided a discount.

Chesterfield Tile gutted and remodeled two of our bathrooms, and did the demo, backsplash, mudwork, electrical, and gas line extension in our kitchen. Overall, the projects turned out well, but I am about to remodel our third bathroom and will be using a different contractor because I felt that there wasn't enough involvement on the part of the owner and that there was poor attention to detail. I would recommend the company for a tile-only project, but not as a general contractor. I have no complaints about the tile, electrical, or plumbing work that was done. We loved the electrical sub so much that we have used him again for several wiring updates. Our main problems stemmed from timing issues (on more than one occasion a sub would show up to find that the previous steps had not been completed and would have to call the previous sub back out) and missed details. Details ranged from accidentally throwing away the glass portion of our light fixture (never replaced), replacing doors and door trim but reusing the rusty, painted over old hinges from the original doors, and not allowing plaster to cure before painting (a year later we still have new bubbles appearing). The owner did not check in often to check on the job quality. When I expressed my concerns about the problems, I was told they were due to my time constraints. Throughout the proposal and building process I repeatedly stated that things did not need to be rushed and that quality was our main priority During the proposal we asked if doing two bathrooms was too much and offered to only redo one and save the second for later, but we were told there was enough time for both. When I was trying to schedule my painter, I asked the company for a date they felt comfortable with, ended up pushing that back by two weeks, and yet things still weren't ready.

remodeled a small bathroom for me. Some of the measurements were wrong. when i complained and asked to speak to the owner, he never returned any of my calls. Terrible customer service and I would never recommend this company. He also said the project would take 7-10 days. It took almost 3 weeks. he did not fully inform the workers what was needed and they frequently had to go to the store to purchase items. Even the workmen stated that there was very little communication from the boss to them

They helped me update my bathroom and I'm about to work with them again on another bathroom. They are very good to work with and wish to please you, the customer. They gave me an estimate upfront and didn't come up with any hidden, additional costs. I'm a perfectionist and can be hard to please, but they did.

Wonderful company to work with. They have done a total of 3 jobs for myself and family. I had a problem with something and they work to correct it immediately. They do wonderful work. I have two bathrooms that I want them to do and will call them for those when I can.
