INSUSLAB LIGHT WEIGHT SLAB SYSTEM Overview Expanded polystyrene (EPS) has become a widely used product in modern day construction due to the requirement for rapid construction, rising energy costs and greater awareness of global warming and energy conservation. Zurial Holdings (PTY)LTD provides professional engineering services for the design, supply and installation of light weight suspended Insuslab system to the construction and building industries in South Africa and neighbouring countries. Insuslab Design Principle Our slab is designed to SANS10100, SANS10160 and other ruling codes of practice. The design principle of the Insuslab is exactly the same as that of the conventional rib and block slab. The only difference is that polystyrene blocks are used as void formers instead of concrete blocks. Our blocks however are left in place only to form a permanent shutter and are not required to contribute to the structural strength of the slab. The Insuslab consists of a series of ribs connected by a structural topping incorporating anti-crack welded mesh. Channels with prefixed reinforcement are used to form ribs. The combination of the channels, and blocks act as a permanent shutter for the casting of approximately 60mm structural topping. The slab is designed to span between supporting load bearing walls or beams and can be designed as either simply supported or continuous over supports.
