Jeff Kerr and Jan Michaels started their collaboration in 1979. Together they have evolved a unique style of working and apply a distinctive set of sensibilities, talents and skills to every challenge. Jeff and Jan believe that they are ultimately responsible for the quality of the entire process, not only the results. They bring wit, insight, skill and care to any dilemma that emerges. Their perspective is long ranging; most of their clients have become and remain friends for years. It is gratifying to Jeff and Jan that a large percentage of clients retain them repeatedly. They have become known for the timelessness of their design, their innovative blurring of boundaries, the unpretentious elegance of their appointments, and the comfortably lavish use of exotic yet durable natural fabric, stone and wood. Another unique feature of their process is the way they provide a single point of accountability from beginning to end. Jeff and Jan take their clients through every step of each project from acquiring properties, through construction or renovation, to the final finishing tourches fo the decor. Like a fine jazz duo, they have developed a signature style. A style that like every great art form is constantly re-informed by the discoveries of other virtuosos yet remains their own. Not surprisingly, they enjoy some well-earned renown. However, because they work so closely with their clients, and because they become so fully engaged in each project, Jeff and Jan limit the number of projects they take on each year.
