Clark built a custom deck for us. They did what they said they'd do, they were courteous and professional. Their price was great considering the overall value and quality. I was VERY impressed.

The three bathrooms in our home were badly overdue for some major updating. We were hesitant to take on any major renovations, especially with young children in the house. We chose Clark as they seemed to be extremely professional and organized. I was impressed the instant they came to our home to review what we wanted to do and remained impressed with how they handled the entire project. They literally took care of everything for us - all we needed to do was go to their showroom and pick out what we wanted. I wasn't as nearly stressed/anxious as I thought I would be, as the project manager took that all away from me by keeping everything organized and being on top of all aspects of the project. With the online client calendar, I knew who was going to be in my home and what was going to happen on any given day. This for me was a huge plus as I never had to guess when things were going to get done. And to top it off, they finished the jobs within the timelines that they originally promised!

We have done three projects with Clark Construction in the last five years and continue to be thrilled with the results. The common thread through all of the projects has been the detail of project planning and design, the quality of the work, and the ability to stay right on schedule. The design team at Clark has always been great to work with. They listened to our needs carefully, but also offered suggestions and guidance to end up with great results. Moreover, some of our work required creative solutions, which were well executed by the Clark team. Without ongoing dialogue between us and their expertise, I’m sure we would have ended up with ‘surprises’ along the way that resulted in delays and cost overruns. As one other reviewer noted, there are always bumps in a project. We have found the team at Clark has been more than capable of dealing with them efficiently and fairly. It’s worth highlighting that there is truly a team working for you at Clark. All stages of the project leverage the company’s owners, designers, office staff, and project managers to ensure things move quickly and smoothly and that costs are considered along the way. Though some of the people we have worked with through the years have changed, most have stayed the same – and all have generated terrific results. The contractors doing the work have generally done top notch work and have been great to have at the house. In the end, the proof is in the results. We love the work that has been done in each of our projects and we’ve had no reservations going back to Clark or recommending their work to friends. We ended up with great designs, usable and functional space, and very high quality craftsmanship. We did not have surprise costs along the way and all of our projects finished either early or on time relative to the timeline that was set when we agreed on contract details.

As a sub contractor who deals with many construction/design management companies I can honestly say Clark Construction is a top notch outfit. They are extremely professional and have a very talented design team.

Clark Construction has exceeded our expectations for each of the 3 projects we have done with them. Our friends have also hired them, based on our satisfaction and the superior quality of the finished projects. Since 2012, we have done: 1) windows/siding insulation, 2)bathrooms and roof work 3) complete kitchen remodel. Our budget for each project was realistic and completely in line with the quality of the finished project. Each project begins with detailed contracts, material lists, budget, and timelines, so that client/ contractor expectations are realistic. Clients are given a personalized log in to check the calendar, see photographs of the progress, and/or pay invoices. Nothing goes 100% as planned (which you know if you have done any projects on your home) and our house is an extreme example of that. When an issue does arise, Clark Construction has always worked with us to ensure our satisfaction. Office and worksite staff are knowledgable, friendly and outgoing. A project manager, designer or someone from the office has been onsite almost every day, during each project. My calls are handled professionally and sensitively (even when emotions are high) and are always returned promptly. The trades and workmen have been pleasant and completely respectful of my family and my home. While I always love getting my home back at the end of a project, I'm a little sad that I won't see the team again - until next time. We had two fabulous experiences working with Clark. They did the remodel for our master bath, and then a few months later we happily hired them again to replace some rotten trim and paint the exterior of our house. Both were large projects, the bathroom especially as we basically gutted the room and started from scratch. I was afraid the process would be overwhelming, but Clark was there every step of the way to help us. Every phase of both projects, from the initial design of the bathroom to the final inspection of the paint job, was easy and seamless. Their contractors were always on time and courteous. They handled any issues (my fault, not theirs, I hated the exterior paint color I chose!) immediately and with a smile on their faces. I have recommended them to several friends, and would not hesitate to use them for any additional projects that we may have in the future. I was shocked to read the other review, as my experience was the exact opposite. The employees at Clark - everyone from the office manager to the designer to the project manager - were always on top of things and returned my calls, texts or emails immediately. I could not have been happier with my experience.

Based on my experience with Clark Construction I wouldn't recommend the firm for a renovation. Gary is an excellent salesman, but his company suffers from the classic oversell/under deliver paradigm. His team simply cannot deliver. Clark Construction charges a premium for the design build service, and we were willing to pay it because we thought we were contracting with a superior company. We planned to leave the house during the build, but after continually seeing mistakes and poor corrective action, we simply could not entrust our home to them without someone being there during the build. Clark missed the mark on many occasions on what most would consider the basics. The foundation for a 3- story addition was poured short, and new doorways were visually out of square. They had to redo the floors twice due to poor sanding technique, to name just a few. When we brought items to their attention, they usually responded with "We'll make it right", but then they would argue with us about fixing the items. For example, we informed Clark that the trades were not using proper flashing for windows as specified within the contracts. They claimed they always use proper flashing. Even with pictures to prove it, we had to agree to pay to replace the trim if we were wrong. We were told that they were making mistakes because we were watching over them so closely. Mistakes were made, as many as 3 times for some trades, with all the trades requiring a second chance to get something correct. Not exactly the high touch experience we were promised. Clark charged a premium for any change orders, even if they should have considered the charge in the total contract given the new code acceptance. We were told by them we'd need to install smoke detectors in all the bedrooms due to the new code, but they failed to mention that the new code also required wired detectors (The section regarding hard wiring detectors is in the following paragraph of the newly adopted code). Then during an inspection we were informed that we needed to have wired smoke detectors. The walls were open and the electrician was still on site, and they still charged us over 6 times the cost of the actual smoke detectors, which were purchased at home depot There came a point in time in our project where we just wanted them out of the house regardless of their ability to deliver good results for the simple reason to stop hearing "We'll make it right". After the ninth or tenth time of hearing "We'll make it right", you have little faith in their ability to execute against the promise given the talent being leveraged. It's my firm belief that the root of all the issues we ran across was due in large part to poor communication and supervision by Gary. Once you are in contract, he is no longer interested. As for his staff, his designer was "no longer with the firm" within weeks of the start of our build, and his project manager was spread too thin and appeared to allow the trades to self manage. We still have a current unresolved problem with our roof, within 10 months our roof leaked at the addition point. Clark claimed it wasn't their work causing the issue and tried to duplicate the leak, but was unsuccessful. They closed the issue as resolved with no further action taken. At this point quite frankly we would rather pay to have it corrected by a new contractor. If you choose to work with Gary, please go in knowing our experience is not a single instance and apparently in speaking with the very trades he hires, is not out of the norm.
