I hired Castle to update and finish basement, baths, kitchen, doors, deck and other updates to a 1950’s ranch house that had no previous updates. The plans, permits and estimates were professional and accurate. I would recommend having a contracted timeline agreed upon prior to beginning project. The quality was good and all of the workers were pleasant. They were very good about working around my dogs and cats. The projects took awhile to finish, but all of the Denver area labor market is tight. They were very good and creative about working with the quirks of an older home. Pictures are on their website. I am so glad we went with Dave and Castle Building Company for our basement renovation and water remediation. We had started on demolishing our basement ourselves right after we purchased our house. We quickly realized we were in over our heads. We began interviewing contractors and getting bids for fixing the basement then realized how different the scope of work could really be. One thing my husband and I love about Dave is his great questions. Dave knows and understands that there are a lot of different ways to handle a project and budget, he wanted to make sure from the start that we were all on the same page. Other contractors we talked with were much more interested in a ‘one size fits all’ solution. As we started our project our trust in Dave and Bob grew. After demolishing our basement floor we saw the source of our problem. We had streams of ground water running into and through our basement! This might have derailed our entire plan but Dave and Bob had many contingencies in place and initiated conversations with a variety of engineers to ensure a solution that would last for the lifetime of our house, not just for a few years. Fixing the extensive water issues in our basement was a huge undertaking. As Dave said, ‘Battling Mother Nature can be unpredictable.” His expertise and research allowed us adjust the plan as needed. He is a true professional and I can’t imagine going with anyone else. We are 18 months past the completion of our project and have not had a single issue with water! project was to build a new entryway/mudroom on the front of my home. The first three weeks of the project went great with workers here every day. then things changed probably due to other projects and all he wanted was the next payment even though no further work was completed. I refused to write anymore checks and all work stopped. his foreman pushed forward to complete the project I'm not even sure if this GC even knew that happened but at least the foreman had a work ethic. I still withheld the final check knowing full well if I paid the balance that would be the end of the work. Towards the end of the project, this GC thought I wasn't home and came to my house and started loading up the remaining flagstone from the project I have video as proof. I confronted him and he said there was no need for me to have this stone that I wasn't going to use it which was still no business of his to take since I paid for it . The other major issue was that Alderwood went missing and I ended up having to pay another $4000. If it wasn't for the foreman I would've had to hire another company and would've been out a lot of money. hopefully the laws in Colorado will change to people like this can't operate any longer.

I hired Castle Building more than once. First, they remodeled the main bathroom in my bungalow in Wash Park. The result was awesome. Later, they redid my stairs and put in an egress window. Dave McLean and Stevie were great. They were very reliable. They kept the house clean while they worked. They paid attention to the finest details and stayed on schedule and budget. They were very accommodating of my dogs. I would hire them again without hesitation. They are craftsman and good at customer relations too.

Dave McLean and his crew from Castle Building did an outstanding job finishing our basement. The detailed plan and 3D drawings that were prepared in advance helped us understand exactly how each room would look and what to expect. Dave's attention to detail and desire to "do the right thing" carried over to all of his crew. They were respectful of our home, were nice to our dogs (very important), and were always willing to listen to our concerns and never tried to cut corners. When things did not turn out exactly as planned, which was not unexpected given the size of our project, they never tried to talk us out of making it right but instead corrected the issue and never complained. We would not hesitate to use Castle Building again and would highly recommend them.
