We hired Belveder Design Build LLC to extend the entire back of the house to create a 200 ft.² addition with a gourmet kitchen and French doors opening onto a new attached deck. This addition attached to the pre-existing kitchen and dining rooms, turning them and the addition into one great room. The walls were brick over block, and removing them and installing a steel beam and new roof during the winter build while ensuring that no snow or rain entered is a demanding task. For this, you want to hire a company with the experience and integrity to ensure against damage to the hardwood floors in the pre-existing areas and to match the floor level and ceiling levels precisely. Belveder Design Build accomplished this perfectly. The end result was a great room that seemed like it had been part of the house from the original construction despite the 60 year difference in materials of the old and new areas. In the basement level, we opted to have a crawl space under the new space. This space was on a concrete slab, was insulated around the walls, but not the floor above, and was conditioned by the HVAC system. The end result is a clean, dry space for additional storage with no worries about insects, mold or rodents. The space has the same air quality and humidity level as the rest of the house. One of our concerns was the cost and the inconvenience of moving out during construction. Belveder not only adhered to the schedule but accelerated it, allowing us to move back into the house more quickly than anticipated. Belveder worked on our project every day without a break until it was completed. All of the trades were carefully synchronized and arrived exactly when needed. All of the inspections by local building officials occurred promptly and the work always passed inspection so that there were no delays. Belveder Design Build created the design and the construction drawings and obtained the permits in-house. They also designed, in coordination with us, all of the cabinet options, finishes and paint colors. An interior designer associated with them, Space Lift LLC, also handled the window treatments. The end result is a product that is beautiful, highly functional and exceeded our expectations. There was great attention to detail in everything. We are very happy to have chosen Belveder and we would recommend them to design and build an addition of any size. On each of these Belveder excels. The owner and designer, Carmen Legato, was reachable in person, by phone or email virtually every day. Communication was timely and excellent. Finally, there willalways be small issues at the end of the project that require adjustment. Belveder quickly and cheerfully addressed each and every one of these in a timely manner.

Carmen Legato was very easy to work with. His communication about the job, timeline and options was outstanding. His crew was also punctual and professional.

I engaged with Carmen for a big renovation involving bumping out my kitchen and dining room about 8 feet. We’re just at the beginning of that project, but he is absolutely meticulous about making sure everything is going to be right - measuring not twice, but many times to ensure that the old and new will mesh properly! Meanwhile, we completed several other projects, including widening a driveway, rebuilding a shed and chimney, rehabilitating a fence, and, significantly, creating a rain garden as now required by code in my area. So far this rain garden has performed beautifully! Picking out the plants with Carmen was a lot of fun and he is very knowledgeable about natives and what works and what doesn’t. He also devotes a lot of attention to the soil in the rain garden, to ensure that it actually works. Carmen has also been attentive to minimizing costs and understanding my style aesthetic. The trade folks he engages are excellent and do great work. I’m looking forward to my new kitchen and dining room once the work is completed!
