Simon from Additional Concepts had a look at an Atrium (outdoor garden) we had in the middle of our living room. We were keen to convert this outdoor space and make it part of the living room but we were unsure about how to get enough day light and air flow into the room. Simon came up with the idea of a pop up roof with windows all around and louver windows for air flow. The entire process including design, council approvals, and execution was expertly managed by Simon and his team. Dave and Sean did most of the building work on the transformation. They were meticulous in their planning and execution, always polite and friendly and very considerate of us living in the house during the renovation. We are extremely happy with the final result and can highly recommend Additional Concepts.

Simon, you had us at hello. Well, from concept stage actually. From our first meeting with Simon, we were blown away by the creative depth of his ideas. He took the time to understand how our family lives - key for designing a home that serves our needs now and in the future. None of the other builders or draftspeople we'd spoken to even came close to bringing that understanding of the intricacies of family life. Simon guided us the whole way, breaking each step into plain English. He's always patient, easy to be around and his eye for detail? IM-BLOODY-PECCABLE. With Simon's team, our renovation has created a bright, open, flowing home that is way more than we could have imagined possible. Simon and his team of merry tradesmen were like an extended part of our family by the time our considerable works were completed. They are punctual, skilled and, most importantly for me, trustworthy. Dave North the foreman found a bunch of solid gold chains a previous owner had secreted in the ceiling and handed them over to us. When we ran out of money mid-works and were waiting for the bank to extend our loan, Simon was very patient and understanding. A lot of people wouldn't have been so trusting and forgiving. The final job was excellent and we're super-confident of the longevity of works. Our only regret is not being able to enjoy the house more, given we sold it to move out of Sydney. Now we're in Newcastle and considering doing it all again, we just wish Simon was closer-by.

The team at Additional Concepts were professional, collaborative and an ideal partner for our small renovation. From the outset dealing with Simon Roy was a pleasure. He was happy to be guided by what we wanted to achieve but was not afraid to give his opinion on better solutions from a practical, finish and cost perspective. Once on site the team was very friendly and professional and worked well to incorporate changes we requested as we progressed. Living on site with a toddler was always going to be a challenge, but the team were meticulous in keeping the house tidy and construction mess quarantined so that our day to day living was minimally affected. Dave who ran the job on site was particularly conscious of this and ensured that not only his team in Olly and Simon worked efficiently to deliver a high standard of finish but that he held all the other trades (plumber, electrician, tiler) to the same standard. We are very happy with the result, coming in under budget too! We will definitely use the team at Additional Concepts again and already have a few projects lined up for them in the New Year.

I can't rate Simon and the team at Additional Concepts highly enough. We had never renovated a house before and the work that needed to be done was extensive and complicated. In fact, many builders we spoke to didn't want to do the job because it seemed too hard. Simon, was genuinely excited about the project right from the first meeting. He loved the design of our house and really saw it's potential. Simon is passionate about what he does and was constantly coming up with fresh ideas for tackling the many issues we faced and uncovered along the way. He has great communication skills, he listens well and is very collaborative. He also looked for opportunities to reuse materials and reduce costs throughout the project. The final product doesn't not look like a cent was spared though. The quality of the work is exceptional and is commented on by everyone that comes to our home. We lived in the house during our renovation which is hard. The respectful attitude and outstanding work ethic of Simon's entire team certainly made this easier to bear. I kind of miss them! Thank you Simon and the team for all your hard work and commitment - we love your work!

A Muzza

Thank you to Simon and his team for transforming our backyard. We went from a large unusable back yard, to a beautifully constructed tiered yard, and deck. Simon & Additional Concepts became known to us originally through the referral of friends who had worked with them in the past. They were very happy to recommend them to us as we are very happy to recommend them on to others embarking on their own construction adventures! From commencement on site to completion the work was undertaken in a friendly and professional manner by Simon and the team. Work was well coordinated with little interruption between trades allowing us to meet some early deadlines which were important to the family. Coming from the industry myself it was also important to me that whoever worked with us was not just able to build well but would do so with consideration of the design outcome that we were looking for.....with Additional Concepts I felt we got this. On a more personal level we genuinely felt that they were just a really nice group of guys to work with.
