After having used 2 other companies for various audio, video and smart home projects in the past, and never being overly impressed with their ability to do anything other than sell my husband a bunch of stuff we didn't need, on our recent project we got connected with Stereo Types.
1st off, we were blown away by their showroom (which by accident we found ourselves in while visiting our son at UVA). Second, we were even more impressed that the staff knew their stuff and could speak plain English. Rather than telling us what we needed, they asked questions and then had us audition a few things based (I assume) on the responses we gave.
Given the fact we live in West Palm Beach, my husband asked for the info on what they had shown us in order to locate the system at home... At which point they informed us they work all over the country and in fact have a regional operation in Naples, FL.
Once back home, we connected with Chad in Naples. We asked him to come see our home in West Palm so we could review in more detail what we were thinking. He was able to take he information he received from the store in VA and immediately run with it, which was surprising considering our experience with all these companies in the past.
Chad presented us with a few options (good-better-best), and explained them in such a way we could make our own decision on what we wanted. If you've done business with a tech company before, you know this is highly unusual. Normally it takes
Hem forever to get back with you and when they do, they give you one option. If you don't like what they presented, they go back to the drawing board for another week and come back with another idea.
As for the install, it went exceptionally went smooth. They were very respectful of our time and cleaned up every day.
They took great care to make sure they made things they installed blend neatly into our décor. In one case, even making an adjustment to something we had custom ordered, because they said they weren't comfortable having their name attached to something that might look like an afterthought.
The system has now been installed for a few months and we love it. Initially there were a couple of bugs, but they told us, up front, this is to be expected. I can tell you, having had smart home systems in 2 other homes, the coupe of bugs we had were nothing compared to what I expected... In the past, we had guys in our home for months following what they called completion. They only needed a couple days to solve the minor glitches.
Working with them before and during the installation was a great experience (okay, as great as could be expected), but to be frank, what we've been most impressed with is how great the service has been since we paid their final invoice.
When we've had a problem, they actually respond! While this may sound like something that should be expected, me, nor any of my friends have ever experienced this with a media company. The first weekend we had the system online, my husband was out of town and I couldn't get something working. I called them (at 9:45PM) with expectation of leaving a message to get a call back on Monday. Within 3 minutes, Chad called me and was able to talk me through how to get thing working. He then sent me a YouTube video link he'd make that showed how to do this if I had trouble again.
At any rate, I think we've finally found the company we will use from now on for our tech stuff. If your in an area they service (which seems to be anywhere), I'd strongly recommend them.
