My husband and I were in the process of looking for a designer who could help us transform our traditional, outdated kitchen into a contemporary, unique kitchen of our dreams. We interviewed many kitchen designers but were disappointed with their ideas. About that time my husband brought home a Kitchen and Bath Business magazine that had pictures of Stimmel's own bathroom, and we read about David's creativity and his awards. That was the kind of person we were looking for, and without hesitation, we called him. Stimmel designed our kitchen, master bath suite, mud room and powder room. Each room is unique and draws gasps of admiration from everyone who visits us. David can walk into a room and immediately visualize what it could become, simply by looking around.. By observing our art objects and through exploratory conversations with us, he was able to gauge our taste and know what kind of designs would please us. What stood out about David was his gift of being extremely observant, listening to his client’s wishes and using his amazing creativity to generate out-of-the-box ideas that are exciting. David interviewed us at length, understood our budget concerns and proposed a few designs that we loved and could choose from. The designs were modified and improved as we went along. David envisions innovative, one of a kind designs in response to a clent’s articulated needs and wishes. He will see a gorgeous piece of wood and create furniture designs that fit a room. I can say our kitchen is truly transformed into an unusual place where it becomes the gathering place for anyone who visits and also for ourselves!! it incorporates alcoves for art objects because David knew we collect art objects of ceramic and wood and love to place them in all our rooms, He used pieces of live edge wood for our crown molding and some of our cabinetry, making it all unusually attractive. There never is a problem that David cannot find an unusual answer for! He has a very good eye for color and design that fit our taste perfectly. David's strength is his innovative approach, unique shapes and contours, unusually attractive designs that can mix wood, ceramics and glass to make a room striking.. Our project was done on time with Stimmel accompanying us to pick the granite, tiles, and wood. His knowledge of the best vendors and craftsmen in the area is impressive. We also got to know him during his travels with us to many vendors and found him to be a devoted family man who enjoys coming up with unusual ideas. We would recommend Stimmel to anyone who loves creative design and can afford a Stimmel designed room. It will be UNIQUE!!

I hired David Stimmel from Stimmel Consulting Group to help me design and procure cabinetry for a very custom kitchen project. (Side note - he didn't recommend the most expensive line of cabinetry by default - which my client appreciated.) I chose him because of his reputation for the very best design work, his attention to detail, and his knowledge of custom millwork and high-end finishes. David looks at an interior space differently than anyone I have worked with, and this creativity shows in the final layout, look, and function. I can't wait to collaborate on another project with David. Hire him if you appreciate quality in any area of home renovation.

While the creativity around design and functionality of our kitchen and bathroom were excellent, the follow-through, the organization, the attention to detail, and the willingness to satisfy the customer are all terrible. We had numerous delays on our project, and 9 months later I am still waiting for requested drawer dividers, cabinet touch ups, under sink trash, and more. Subcontractors were at times unreliable and difficult to deal with, and now their poor work will require someone else to fix it. While the design is beautiful and the workmanship around cabinets is outstanding, I could never hire Stimmel design again.

As a former editor of a professional kitchen and designer magazine, I am well acquainted with David Stimmel's talent and expertise as a designer. Many of his projects were selected for publication over the years because of their creative use of space and materials; their thoughtfulness and responsiveness to functional issues; and, of course, their editorial appeal. Several of David's projects have also won awards in the magazine's annual design contest and graced many a cover. While the aesthetics of David's work are certainly impressive, it's his resourcefulness, his willingness to think outside the box and his upbeat personality that make him a compelling designer. I love the story behind the design of his own kitchen and bath. I love that his passion for his craft always comes through during interviews. And on top of that, he's a truly nice guy.

Mr. Stimmel totally redesigned my entire kitchen making it more functional and aesthetically pleasing than I could have ever imagined. His attention to detail and easy going manner made him a pleasure to work with. He provided me with multiple layouts and design options and his extensive knowledge helped steer me in the right direction when I wasn't quite sure which way to go. When there was a manufacturers flaw in one of the cabinets, Mr. Stimmel worked tirelessly to make them correct their mistake. My kitchen has become the highlight of my home. They designed and installed a kitchen for us about 10 years ago. The kitchen looks as good today as when it was first installed. Materials were top quality and workmanship excellent. The kitchen is the highlight of our home and receives consistent praise from people visiting our home.

David Stimmel did the design work for the second floor of our center city townhouse in Philadelphia and the resulting master bedroom suite is both luxurious and serene. We thought that he was truly gifted in reimagining the space we had grown used to and creative in fashioning remodeling options in line with our own wishes, needs and tastes. The bedroom, bathroom, dressing room and study are a pleasure to use--there is a large circular shower, a toilet and bidet in a separate glass enclosed space and ample storage in floor to ceiling built-ins. David suggested adding a window to one room which totally changed its character for the better and moving the door to the bedroom, making it feel much more secluded. The custom cabinetry he had installed is beautiful. He responded promptly to construction issues as they arose and always offered workable solutions. We would work with David again in a heartbeat--he listens well and brings a practical, intelligent bent to his creativity. David is both a designer who cares about his clients and their projects and a designer who truly thinks out of the box.
