I'm an interior designer and blogger in Asheville, NC. I offer interior design services, online design, and house plans. With over 12 years of experience, Tamara Gavin Interior Design can create a functional, thoughtful, and cohesive design for your home. I'm not sure where the gene came from, but I was born to design houses. It has been my passion, gift, and obsession for more than fifteen years. Born in LA, raised and educated in the midwest, refined in New York City, and settled in Asheville, North Carolina, I am receptive to new ideas and enjoy blending the new with the old. A house with pleasant proportions, quality craftsmanship, and true materials feels like home to me. I value domestically sourced products, thoughtful details, and classic design - with a healthy dose of adventure. I have been fortunate to have worked for award-winning architecture and interior design firms throughout my career, and am conscientious and approachable when it comes to designing for others. I love that with every project I learn something new, and I think that even if I continue to design for another 50 years I will be reluctant to use the word “expert” to describe myself. I surround myself with great talent and appreciate the collaborative process with others. I strive to create spaces that offer warmth, strength, and beauty. My mission is to offer sincere and authentic design that celebrates our architectural heritage and gives heed to fundamental design principles and established precedent. I believe, together, we can create homes that are reminiscent of those houses of the past that we treasure so much.
