Kathy has done an excellent job of melding my tastes with a more beach transitional look. She was tremendous helping me pick out wall colors and window treatments for all rooms! She suggested a chair rail in the stairway landing to offset the height and draw the eye up to the beautiful window treatment. She is a great sounding board and I can’t wait to have her help me out with the master area rug and living room area rug.

If you're looking for help turning your home into a place that will make you LOVE coming home, then Kathy is your designer! She has helped us with our last two homes. Our most recent project included the living area and office. Originally, the living room's outdated, ugly, 1950's stone fireplace dominated the room. We felt there would be no way to update the house without remodeling the entire living area (which was not in our plans). However, Kathy was able to show us that with small changes to the interior paint colors and new furnishings, the outdated look would disappear. Wow! I cannot tell you enough how she transformed our home from a 1950's "grandma" house to a super chic beach house. When you walk into the front door, you no longer notice the stone fireplace. It now fades into the background and makes complete sense in the house. I highly recommend Kathy -- she always listens first to understand her client's desires. And when, like myself at times, a client is not sure how to describe what they want until they see it, Kathy has a special ability to read between the lines and produce the perfect result. She's amazing!!!

Kathy is terrifically talented with an artist’s eye, and we highly recommend her. She recently transformed our living and dining areas with updated upholstery fabrics, wall paint colors, area rugs, and furniture, while also incorporating existing cherished pieces. The changes, which maximize space and make sense for our home and its location, are totally consistent with our personal style. The previous dark, heavy look is gone. Before working with Kathy, we never truly felt that designers focused on our vision. In contrast, we have been thrilled with Kathy’s guidance, attention to details, availability, and interest in our project. She is great at listening to her clients and working with a budget. As we finish accessorizing, we are enjoying new elegant and inviting rooms. Kathy is a lovely, kind, trustworthy, and patient designer in whom we have complete confidence!

Kathy was the interior designer who helped me furnish my old home and my new home as well. She is very good at understanding someone's style and personality and I have trusted her to help me pick items that would fit together with the furniture I already had. Everything turned out to be a perfect fit with the colors and all the pieces together and I am looking forward to her help with my new project around the house. Kathy is great! She is very professional and has good taste! We had a recent bedroom and bathroom addition and she provided us with excellent suggestions that were within our price range. She helped us choose a bed, rug, desk, table, cabinet, lamps, chair, floor mirror, and bedding. We also had a few accessories added in the mix. As far as the bathroom, she was able to help us choose a color to suit both my husband and me. I would highly recommend her for your next project. There were a few bumps along the way but Kathy stayed determined to provide us with excellent customer service. You will not go wrong given her high level of professionalism and style. I've been a client of Kathy DiFede at Ethan Allen for over 10 years and having her knowledge and sense of style to guide me has made a huge difference in the way my family and I enjoy our home. I first went to Ethan Allen when our house was under construction and, having gleefully put our old ikea sofa on the curb for the garbage truck, I was looking for something we could sit on when we moved back in. With so many decisions to make during a remodel, I went to Ethan Allen knowing I would get stress-free design advice and quality furniture. I didn't meet Kathy until my next visit to Ethan Allen when I was ready to purchase a cabinet for my entry way. She came to my house just to make sure this one piece would be a good fit. I could tell immediately that she had an incredible eye for design and that she really cared about helping us make our home enjoyable to be in. I can only imagine how fun it would be to be a client of Kathy's on an unlimited budged, but what is truly amazing about her service is that over the years she has treated our slowly evolving, budget-restricted "project" with the same enthusiasm and respect as she would a luxury home makeover. She has given us plans for rearranging and updating our living area, including interesting yet comfortable fabrics, window treatments and accessories, and has been extremely patient while we have managed to implement her ideas in small increments. She is a master at helping us find ways to save money by updating old furniture with new fabrics and fresh arrangements, as well as helping us create the best possible impact when we are ready to splurge. She has come over and helped with nearly every design element in my living and dining area down to the paint colors on the walls and finish on our new front door. We worked with Kathy to choose a sofa and 2 side chairs for our living room. Kathy had us sit in each pieces to see how it functioned with our bodies, demonstrating how some pieces, depending upon the depth, could cause back and/or shoulder issues. She took all the time we needed to carefully choose fabrics and colors for each piece and sat with us several times to review our options. Kathy was exceptionally helpful, going out of her way to assist with choosing flooring and wall colors to enhance the furniture chosen. She came to the house on several occasions when we were not sure that we had chosen correctly. She took the time to help us decide again and helped relieve the stress of making the wrong decision.
