Shawna Starkman Design Group was great to work with. Just from having a few conversations about what I wanted to change from what was currently in my home and seeing a few photos of my space, Shawna was able to create a warm and comfortable space for me. She did this all remotely. She sent me numerous options to choose from and nailed it. We started with the largest piece in the room, being the couch as the center point and worked from there. I now have a living room space that is a true reflection of me that I love to be in.

This firm's work is imaginative, sophisticated and thoughtful. SSDG is expert at both high-end residential as well as corporate interiors. Shawna and staff are not only friendly and down-to-earth but they're consummate professionals. I recommend them without hesitation.

Shawna Starkman Design Group (SSDG) was an enormous help to Light Space Studios in designing and project managing the thousands of details that go into building a commercial photo and film studio in NY. Shawna fully understood our needs from her background in the film industry, was sensitive to our time line and our budget. She really focused on the needs of our future clients and how this space was going to accommodate them. Fast forward 5 years, our business has expanded and SSDG was our first call to help us flesh out new space and use her “think outside the box” ways to fulfill our wish list. Her team was courteous, professional, and a pleasure to work with. We are now planning even larger expansions into new markets and look forward to having the creativity of SSDG on our team to help us achieve our vision.

I worked with Shawna on a collaboration project for a client of mine. She was able to take the client's many different ideas and consolidate them into one, cohesive look throughout the office. She took every curve ball we were thrown and hit it out of the park with great solutions that kept the client on time and on budget. Creative, but solution oriented, Shawna and her team were on site directing every aspect of the project from start to finish. I would definitely work with her and her team again.

Working with Shawna in my 6 Bedroom Victorian home was very rewarding and the outcomes so satisfying. She was very good at asking the right questions and offering creative and beautiful vision for the spaces. Shawna Starkman is a true professional who exhibits a high level of knowledge about design, decoration, and construction. She understands clients needs and prioritizes deliverables in a timely manner with dedication and real hard work available at all times. Shawna's style is extremely personable and amenable to your specific needs and tastes. She is truly talented and passionate about her art and makes working with her an enjoyable experience. Shawna was able to create specific unique custom pieces of furniture. She collaborated with 5 different vendors to assemble an 8 foot long ecosmart fireplace with no flue utilizing a slab of quartzite stone backsplash (high heat resistant) inside with high stainless steel gauge surround, flame retardant paint, shatterproof glass, and beautiful fire crystals that nobody had done inside a private residence fully custom. She calculated the BTU's and investigated all materials before working with the GC to put together. Another example is coordinating custom furniture in Indonesia - Shawna sent over fabrics, paint swatches, and researched customs and freight duties for ultimate delivery to my house. She has never said no to any request. She is fantastic and has a great eye that is flexible with many different types of styles.

Shawna did a great job decorating our kids rooms! She built an amazing loft bed for one daughter, incorporating great storage, a cool staircase and creative, gorgeous fabrics. My daughter still loves it as a teenager. The other rooms, including a guest room, came out very well also. She was very easy to work with, and made sure everything was done to our satisfaction. We hired Shawna Starkman Design Group to work on our Victorian home in Maplewood. Ms. Starkman has assisted us with color consultation, tile selection, and many many other design elements in our ongoing top-to-bottom renovation. She is patient and understanding, and really seems to "hear" what her clients have to say. Her taste is impeccable, and she is extremely warm and accommodating! I cannot recommend her enough, and constantly receive compliments on the work that she has done!

Shawna has done several projects for us. SHe is creative, thoughful, efficient and we ended up with beautiful rooms that we continue to enjoy thoroughly. She has wonderful resources and I would recommend her to anyone. She is a pleasure to work with and would use her again if I need to.

Shawna has an amazing capacity to 'read' your design style and help you create the look you want! Her taste is simply stunning. Her recommendations are clear, she responds to emails immediately, and she is so easy to work with. She helped us design our bathroom, which was a complete reno in our 100 year old house, and managed to make the process fun for us. We will definitely be calling her again!

Shawna has excellent taste and is a joy to work with. She transformed our spaces (in two houses) from drab and depressing into beautiful and welcoming, while still comfortable. She understood our taste, and responded to that. We ended up with homes that felt like us, just much better.
