Ohana Banerjee Designs

We found Ohana's website after seeing her board outside a house that looked like it was being renovated nicely. We did a design workshop with her to help us solidify our ideas, gain new ideas and avoid pitfalls. Ohana gave us some good ideas and helped us to avoid or reconsider bad ideas: she kept us on the straight and narrow. Most importantly she gave us one piece of really good advice: make use of what you have! For example, she showed us how to not waste money on making changes that would be very expensive to implement when there is a simpler and cheaper alternative that is just as effective and much more cost-effective. And soon after the workshop I discovered just how right she was when I got the builder's quote for such a design that my architect had drawn up: it was expensive! I'm now changing that design to a simpler, cheaper one to implement. So I would thoroughly recommend using Ohana in conjunction with your architect - this way you can ensure your design and building costs are sensible.

Ohana was involved in my kitchen renovation from the beginning. Initially I was going to have a large-ish extension, but it proved to be too expensive. Ohana helped me achieve a feeling of an extension through her ideas of light and space. She also has a great understanding of how a family would use the space. She fuses design with functionality. How a home is really used. She also has fantastic ideas on colour. Finally, I felt Ohana listened to my brief and helped me execute it every time I had a wobble! She has been a great person to bounce ideas with especially with her extensive knowledge of interior design. I would highly recommend working with her.

Ohana saved us a huge amount of money by guiding our house-purchase decision. Without her advice we would have had no idea of the cost of what seemed like simple changes to a property we nearly bought. Instead she helped us develop plans for another more straightforward renovation. We're delighted with the outcome, which would not have been the same without Ohana's mix of practical advice and inspiration.

The design that Ohana provided for our garage conversion - studio flat was perfect from both a practical and aesthetic perspective. She had a small space to work with, but came up with not just a great kitchenette and shower room but some really nice features such as an electric velux roof window - letting in so much light and air. Her project management was highly professional - very organised, thorough and communicative. I have no hesitation in recommending her unreservedly and would enjoy working with her again should the need arise.

I consulted Ohana because the arrangement of the living space in my house wasn’t working for our family of 5. Ohana had a wonderful way of helping me to clarify what I wanted from my living space, she really listened to what I was trying to achieve and thoughtfully questioned me about how I was going to use my house. As a result I made some changes that hadn’t occurred to me and did not do other alterations that originally I thought I definitely wanted! Thanks to her suggestions we saved a significant amount of money and have a beautiful genuinely multi purpose family friendly living space.
