Classic Design. Modern Perspective. Na’s design approach is fresh, fun, original. “Most of all, the design must be reflective of the client’s vision and lifestyle.” Na’s job is to make it all happen. Born in Vietnam, Na is in sync with the delicate sensibilities and styling of Asian culture. Also an artist, Na's medium is lacquer: “Lacquer forms a hard clear veneer over brightly covered paintings – mostly inspired by nature.” Her design approach: “The client’s selections have to work with the entire room. They should not overpower the space. There has to be a balance and feeling that everything flows, without effort.” As in her art, her designs reflect balance. “I want the mood created by the interior design to be subtle yet powerful. Some see this as a paradox, yet I think the two are integrally connected. Like nature, on a deeper level.” Prior to joining Ethan Allen in 2004, Na honed her skills at the Washington Design Center in D.C., working as a visual merchandiser for the international firm, Kravet. While living in the U.S. Virgin Islands, she continued her design career at the St. Croix Design Center and shortly thereafter, opened her own art studio in Connecticut– Asia Design Studio. Her academic training includes an Associates Degree in Interior Design from the prestigious New York School of Interior Design. The design process: “It’s helpful for the client to share his or her sources of inspiration: photos, magazine clippings, ideas from the Web, nature, artwork. Throughout the process, I will exchange ideas via design boards, colored floor plans, and of course verbal communications are paramount. With regard to budget issues it is important to prioritize, meaning to decide which pieces are really essential and work from there.” A recent favorite project: “It was great fun working with Linda of Stamford. The key to our successful relationship was trust. She trusted my judgment and hence, my ability to create a gorgeous space soared. It gives me great pleasure that every day Linda tells her husband ‘I just love my new home. I just love my new home. I just love my new home.’ I consider it a great compliment that my client is truly enjoying her space.” Na’s design niches: window design; accessorizing; lighting design. Na’s sources of inspiration: “Nature. We are all connected and nature reminds us gently and sometimes not.”
