She sees things that you don't even think about between other rooms... her visions are just beautiful and pulled together, she directs, guides, and tells you why or why not. Mary Lynn Mabray undertook our house remodel without hesitation though we live a great distance apart in Texas. Mary Lynn was successful with modern media and telecommunications reaching our project goal. We had quite a lot of vintage & antique elements already in place which she helped us integrate into an up to date, classic, timeless design. She helped us visualize how open and bright our space would be when we removed the wall between our 1960's formal living room and the outdated, wood beamed family room by removing the beams, installing more light with recessed, energy efficient LED's throughout the living, kitchen, dining, bath, and utility rooms. The white painted paneling was removed in the family room. Walls were textured and painted a beautiful shade of cream (Sherman Williams' Eaglet Beige) and the entry wall and an accent wall were specially painted by a local faux painting artist under Mary Lynn's direction while her vision of creating a lovely entrance and focal point with our buffet and a pair of 100+ year old copper tooled parrot art pieces was achieved. She further recommended we open and brighten the kitchen/dining space by removing the above counter cabinet, adding more recessed lighting and eye catching fixtures. We also enlarged the entry doorway into the kitchen and placed lever door handles throughout in anticipation of our elder years needing ease of movement. She has a keen eye for style & design and she can read her clients' styles with panache. We removed the out dated bulkhead and plate rail above the kitchen cabinets, added a decorative crown on them after they were lightened 2 stain shades, placed granite countertops, travertine backsplash with modern glass accents all complimented with new knobs and pulls. She taught us about balance by designing cabinet features in the kitchen to house the new refrigerator and oven and replaced 1960's paneling end pieces with solid ash raised panels stained to match the rest of the woodwork. Within this design we replaced and increased the cabinet space with 4 drawers below the single convection oven and brought the cabinet above the refrigerator out even with it when we removed the cabinet above the counter. We regained counter work space by installing a convection/microwave oven over the induction cooktop. Her conscientiousness of our budget was realized with the use of a lot of our current furnishing throughout our spaces. By repurposing some of our pieces led Mary Lynn to the French Country / Provincial style of design in our new spaces. She had a vision to update our current dining room table and 6 chairs by getting them painted, antiqued and distressed to fit the French Country profile. The current built-in china cabinet was also made over in this same style and added stenciling to make the dining room area more cohesive. Our sunroom just off the family room was repainted with a subtle shade of cream just darker than the family room while the kitchen, dining room and utility room were painted in a slightly lighter shade of cream. Refreshing. New furnishings were added though they were either repurposed or purchased in resale stores or antique stores with plenty of life left in them, providing us education of budgeting, style and design once more. She urged us to updated the guest bathroom by enlarging the door, updating the fixtures and hardware, adding Crema Marfil marble countertops removing the wainscoting, texturing and painting it the lighter shade of cream as in the kitchen brightening the space. She made our house beautiful, functional and up to date and the home in which we can be proud to live and entertain. Thank you, Mary Lynn. I'm looking forward to my next project with your guidance.

Mary Lynn Mabray has a tremendous eye for scale, depth, color and detail. She possesses that uncanny ability to envision the finished project as she collects and directs the elements that when brought together create a beautiful room. I recently hired Mary Lynn to help with the completion of a home office/media room at a vacation home. The large open, third floor space presented a unique challenge as to how best to draw the sections of the room together yet maintain their independence. Through select furnishings and accessories Mary Lynn helped to achieve this balance. She has a resource for everything!

I have used Mary Lynn Mabray's interior design services for more than 30 years. Over that time, Mary Lynn has helped me to upsize and downsize and make decisions about furnishings, light, art, window coverings, and color for my home. At times, when I have been out and about shopping, I have texted her photos of furniture and accessories to get her opinion about whether they are good finds or not. She gives me a thumbs up or thumbs down and the reason why, which I appreciate. She has always been considerate of my budget and tastes. Mary Lynn has worked with my existing pieces and helped me to re-accessorize and freshen up my environment. When I acquired my grandmother's embroidered artwork, Mary Lynn helped me to frame the pieces and display them in my home where I enjoy my grandmother's memory every day. Over the years and our life experiences, Mary Lynn and I have grown as friends and we are more like family now. I highly recommend Mary Lynn and believe she will be a positive in her client's life.

Mary Lynn is an amazingly talented interior designer. I'm an artist and I've worked with her on many projects. Her attention to detail, skill set and knowledge are superior. She has impeccable taste, and can take a project from inception, through finish out. I highly recommend her for any interior design project!

The diversity of this designer is amazing. I had not seen the projects she's posted here on Houzz and was surprised at how different they are from other her works that I have seen in person. One Houston home featured lovely murals that meshed with the owner's antiques and a courtyard that transported me beyond the noisy big city with its soothing fountains, sculptures and roses. One unforgettable wall featured an antique wooden angel against an ethereal sky-like background - in a foyer. Another idea I loved was a kitchen with decorative painting that suggested a French countryside. She is able to combine high-end pieces with flea market finds that exude personality! Totally unique. Ms. Mabray should share some of her other designs on Houzz to show how extremely versatile a designer she is. Cannot wait to have her help on our next house.
