Lichen and Stone

We’ve never worked with a designer before but for a project of this size and magnitude I wanted to go outside of my comfort zone to really bring this renovation to life. To say that we are happy would be a massive understatement. The level of attentiveness and thought that Chantelle puts into every aspect of her work, from planning, design, integration and, everybody’s favourite part, coordinating everything and bringing it across the line. It’s not an easy job and her direct like demeanour made this impossible task feel perfect. She ensures every question is answered and every concern heard. She stands up for what she believes will be in your best interest, based on your initial consultation. I cannot recommend Chantelle enough, if you’re planning on any type of renovation or re design, she is your choice and it’s not close. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us Chantelle and we’re ready for the basement shortly ;)

Our project: We have an old home in the Glebe that needed some updating from both an aesthetic and operational perspective to accommodate our growing family. On the inside main floor, we completely renovated and updated our kitchen, made changes to our dinning room, added a beautiful custom made full wall unit to the living room to display our knick knacks and provide much needed additional storage space. On our upstairs level, we took down walls to make a large family room with custom shelving and cupboards and redesigned a guest bathroom. On the outside, we increased the curb appeal and functionality by adding a covered front porch and bringing the roof design in alignment with the style of the house. Review: We have used Lichen and Stone for a number of renovation projects on our 100 year old brick house in the downtown area of Ottawa. We have been so pleased with their professionalism, vision, design and management at every stage of each project. Chantelle is so pleasant to work with, she took the time to understand our vision as well as what we actually needed. As a result, her design and project recommendations were beyond what we could have envisioned while also keeping to our budget. Her knowledge and skill removed our stress of renovating by thoughtful, beautiful design options, excellent trouble shooting (we live in an old house) and working with the contractors from the start to make sure the design vision was met and our budget respected. She also recommended excellent contractors for each of our projects. We have just started working with Lichen and Stone again on a backyard design which we hope to do this summer.

We hired Chantel of Lichen Stone to help us with an upgrade of our kitchen. She provided excellent suggestions and advice. The team she assembled to do the actual work was fantastic. They always showed up when promised and were very professional in caring out their tasks. We are very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Chantel and Lichen and Stone to others.
