Having Jennifer Grey is like have a super hero in your corner. We struggle with colors and ideas and bringing Jennifer in to help us is and always will be the way we win the design and color battle. We called her six years ago to pick an interior color and this time to help with backyard colors. The bonus is, she walks through your project with you and you can bounce ideas or she gives you fabulous ones. She sees what we don't (super hero). She is not judgmental, she listens - really listens and delivers her ideas with a reason behind it/them and does so in such a calm and collected way. If you've been looking for someone to call with your color and design questions, honestly, look no further. She won't wear a cape but most likely a super cute scarf. ;)

Amazing! I was looking for someone to help us pick out colors for the exterior of our home. She was recommended by someone I know, so we contacted Jennifer, and within a matter of days, she came to our house. She took her time to get to know us and toured the inside and outside of our home. She asked many questions about outdoor furnishings, lights, and even the mailbox. She took some time to review her palette and returned with a plan - with some options. We are thrilled with the results - even eight months later, I was compelled to text Jennifer to tell her how much we love our colors and how much it sparks joy every time we pull up to our house!

Jennifer is true first class interior design professional and color specialist. She provided outstanding guidance and options for our complete primary bathroom renovation. This project scope eventually expanded to include a complete remodel of our primary bedroom as well. She helped us design and select all of the materials (tile, fixtures, cabinetry, paint, lighting, furniture, and all accessories) for both the primary bath and bedroom. She has a tremendous eye for color palette matching. Without her we would have been stuck trying to make the myriad of style and color detail decisions that go with all projects of this magnitude. Jennifer helped us choose incredible colors for the outside of our house. It was a challenging design problem as the backyard pool had grey tones and the front of the house had brown tones. She was able to select a palette that worked all around. And she advised on what trim to paint what color, and what to leave the same as the body color of the house to “quiet things down”. She wrote up a detailed visual design spec that our painter was able to follow perfectly. She is truly an expert in color and also an artist at it. We are so happy with the results and the process.

Jennifer recently helped my family renovate our house after a water leak. As this was not a planned remodel, we found ourselves overwhelmed trying to pick out new flooring and decide on paint colors while also having to deal with insurance and plumbing repairs. Jennifer had great recommendations for flooring and fireplace tile, met us at the stores to pick out options, and came back to our house with the samples to help us make final decisions. I hired Jennifer based on her reviews and have to say I agree with all who think she goes above and beyond and is so easy to talk to. I needed assistance to prepare myself for a possible sale so was looking for input on kitchen counters/backsplash, painting kitchen cabinets and painting exterior. I am usually all over the place so I wanted someone who could come in and run with what I had existing, but also make it look classic in case we don't sell and I'd like to build on her changes. After looking at multiple counters with her I came back to her original recommendation. She's so spot on in deciding what will look best with both the cabinet stain I didn't like and my wish list color. Her choices for the exterior were out of my usual scope, but I love it! She also helped me with basic layout for my family room that would help with the flow. I can't recommend her enough. PS: She's great with pesky dogs always wanting to join in ;)

After years of frustration from dealing from incompetent designers we finally hit the jack pot with Jennifer Grey. Her floor plan, color choice and overall planning and delivery were all outstanding. Jennifer has helped us with several different home design projects during the past year. We moved in to our new home last year and it was a completely different style from our previous home and we needed help figuring out what type of furniture to get, what colors to use, and how to fill the space. Not only is Jennifer extremely knowledgeable about design (color selection, space planning, sourcing furniture and accessories, etc), but she is easy to work with and extremely thorough with her approach. She shows up on time and provides timely responses to emails. Here are a few of the projects we have worked on together during the past year: •Home exterior paint color selection. Jennifer helped us select the paint color for our home exterior. She took great care to make sure the color coordinated well with our roof and stone and she recommended excellent accent colors for our trim and front door. We have received many compliments on how fantastic the color is. The painter who painted our home now recommends the color to his other clients. •Sofa styling. Jennifer did an excellent job sourcing pillows and throws for both our family room and living room sofas and chairs. She made sure to get a sense for the style that we liked as well as what would work with the home architecture and style of our furniture. I absolutely love the pillows and throws she selected. She also made excellent recommendations for additional styling details for our coffee tables. •Entryway and living room décor. Jennifer helped us select area rugs, furniture, and indoor trees for our entryway and living room. She was sensitive to our budget constraints and design preferences and made sure everything complimented our existing wall color and floors. Everything turned out fantastic!

We have never hired someone to help us with colors - Big mistake. Jennifer Grey came to our home and when she left we were excited to get the project started. She helped us pick floors, wall colors, cabinet colors and also provided us with some contacts for contractors. Last night we received a followup email. Very helpful because we covered A LOT. Jennifer is great! I utilized her services for a color consultation on old and dreadful color combination in my house with some tricky transitions. I didn't really know what to do, so did nothing for too long! When I had enough, I reached out to Jennifer. She was fast with a response and communicated so amazingly well! I have been excited about my remodel, but now I’m even more excited after my meeting with Jennifer to pick out paint colors. She listened to my design ideas first so she could get an idea of what we were doing and how it all fits together. She looked at our lighting and discussed how that would affect color choice. Then, we Laid out my samples of flooring, countertop, tile, etc and chose paint colors. So fun! We were getting ready to sign a kitchen remodel contract and wanted confirmation of our color and material choices, or someone to let us know they were off base. Found Jennifer on Houzz and saw the great reviews about her color expertise. We gave her a call and expected to spend 2 hours with her. That turned into 4 because she was so helpful and knowledgeable. She found a paint color that perfectly ties in the new project with the existing parts of the house, and it looks amazing. Jennifer is wonderful and is very happy and pleasant to work with. We really enjoyed our time together and listening to all her decorating ideas. We initially hired her to help choose colors for new sofas we planned to purchase. We had never used a professional decorator before, but knew we planned to change the look of our home, and didn’t know if we would get it right. When we first met with her, she stated that her job was to “get into our heads” so she would know our tastes. Then she worked with us, discussing every step and offering alternatives. She coordinated furniture, art and accessory purchases with our home’s new paint, carpeting and existing oil paintings, in both our living and family rooms. A big benefit Jennifer provided was providing confidence in color selection for the furniture. She recommended The Sofa Guy in Thousand Oaks, and met us at this store to select fabrics. She brought her laptop with the pictures she had taken of our paintings, so she could see how fabric swatches looked together with them. We reviewed many alternatives, and selected swatches that, as upholstered furniture and pillows, look beautiful in our rooms today. Jennifer further helped us with suggestions for a mirror over the fireplace and art above our piano. We are very happy Jennifer helped us with this entire process and highly recommend her.

I had never used an interior designer before because I thought they were only for rich people, but I just moved into a big new house and I needed help!! I had a vision of what I wanted but wasn't quite sure about how to pull it all together. I had so many random questions, but had a good idea of what kind of style I liked. From the moment I spoke to Jennifer on the phone to set up our first meeting, she totally put me at ease. She was totally fine with coming out to answer my questions and give me advice. She was totally fine coming for just an hour, where other designers I spoke to were much snobbier and had 2/3 hour minimums. She also has great discounts with retailers that she's happy to pass on. When I bought some chairs at Design Within Reach, the guy there told me many times designers don't pass on their whole discount and they pocket a portion of your sale....she doesn't do that. Jennifer has helped me immensely -- both with great ideas to make my home look more put together and stylish, but she also told me many cool websites and other unique places to shop. If you are wary of getting help from an interior designer like I was, don't hesitate to call her! She will make you feel so comfortable and will make your home beautiful too!!!

Jennifer has been to my home twice in a three month period to consult on space planning, hanging mirrors, pictures, chandeliers you name it! She's also been extremely valuable with paint selection. We bought a new house and have painted the outside in and Jennifer has helped us every step of the way. I had other designers come in that were "paint experts," but Jennifer truly knows her paint. We found her on Houzz after searching for months for the right person. I feel like I was working with a close friend even though I had never met her. Her ideas were amazing but the finished product is even more astonishing. We did a complete remodel of our townhouse and Jennifer has been great. She certainly cares about tile and countertops more than me. She helped choose all the materials, colors and fixtures. I am a little late in posting this review about the wonderful experience and results we had with Jennifer. She has a very keen sense of color. Jennifer worked with us in selecting countertops for our master bath and kitchen as well as the back splash, shower tile, bathroom floor. Together we visited the granite yard and tile stores to select everything. Because I was with her, I was easily able to check out samples and take home to look at things in the best light. We also selected carpet this same way. She also came to the cabinet wholesaler to verify the cabinet selections. When it came time to select the paint she came to the house with all these samples (we checked them out again) to make sure everything would go together. The colors are absolutely perfect. Jennifer charges by the hour rather than for the entire job. Many designers charge for the job and then they make an additional commission from the various vendors for your purchases. Jennifer does not take any commission from the vendors so she can more easily work with your budget (she doesn't make money off of a more high end tile selection for instance). In fact, some of our vendors offered me a discounted price because I shopped with her. We love how our house turned out. We highly recommend her-by the way we found Jennifer by browsing Houzz.

Updating the interior of a 30 year old house was a daunting task for me. I turned to Houzz and fortunately found Jennifer! On her first visit to my home, I felt very comfortable with Jennifer and knew we could work together. I appreciated she took the time to get to know me through her color survey and personal meeting. What was to me an overwhelming project, Jennifer helped me see and tackle smaller projects within the house, i.e. flooring, paint colors, lighting, kitchen hardware, rugs, etc. She has such a wonderful eye for color, and she has educated me with her knowledgeable. My project is ongoing and Jennifer has shown me nothing but patience. Not an easy task, but Jennifer has taken what was a burden to me and made updating/decorating my home enjoyable. I am loving the results!!

Finally an interior designer that is willing to help the rest of us regular folk. I hired Jennifer to help guide me in the decisions for an entire home remodel with every surface. She helped me pick paint colors, floor, and tile for the whole house. Her suggestions and advice was a life saver and allowed me to source the materials and schedule the work. Most designers just want to take your budget and then source it themselves so they can profit on each item but Jennifer charged a flat rate for her time. This allows me to source my own professionals and do some of the work ourselves to stretch the budget but still make sure the house will flow nicely and look great. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for design help on any budget.

Jennifer was exactly what I needed! A person to walk through the massive remodel of my parents entire house and help coordinate color and materials. She is incredible with color and suggestions. We were able to develop a color story for the entire house in 1 day including picking flooring tile and paint. I can't tell you how wonderful it was to have such a helpful knowledgeable professional to work with. When so many interior designers only want to accept jobs where they do all the sourcing so they can make more money, it is nice to have someone that is willing to advise for a fair price. Jennifer came over to do a color consultation for my wall paint. I've got to say we had a blast! She is so knowledgeable about color.......all the subtle nuances and undertones that my eye would never pick up on. She also gave me lots of great ideas for pulling it all together with accessories. Jennifer worked with us on our kitchen remodel and the experience was fantastic! Jennifer is an incredible designer: she has a beautiful eye for color, pattern, style, and how things will fit together. My style is different from some of the other projects on which she was also working and she would show me pictures of her work elsewhere and I marveled at how differently she is capable of styling houses. I've been working on my condo for 6 years. It's nearly finished and will soon need painting throughout. After buying several grey paint samples and applying them to areas on the wall, I liked none of it--nothing was working. I panicked. Then immediately searched Google looking for a painting consultant--I didn't even know if one existed. I selected someone based on what suggested to me that she was particularly skilled as a color consultant. I went to her link, then emailed her. She responded quickly, I knew she was an interior designer, which suggested to me she migh be high-priced, but she wasn't! I contracted her as a paint consultant only and I think for the first time I got more than complete value for my money. She arrived on time with large color samples. She interviewed me as to my desired style, offering some suggestions along the way. Jennifer is an intelligent, kind, nonjudgmental communicator who showed me what I hadn't considered regarding my color choice and why I wasn't pleased with it. She gave me plenty of her time as we worked through the process. She shared some of her designer knowledge which she really didn't have to do--was delightful and not stuffy. I was introduced to Jennifer through a friend and I have to say I am so thankful for that. Jennifer has been a blessing to my life. I ONLY wish I would have found Jennifer years ago - I would have saved so much money, time, and heartache. I am a "DIY" girl on a budget and have a lot of ideas in my head but don't know how to organize them and put the right colors/items/dimensions into my home. After describing my taste and sending pictures to Jennifer she knew my style SPOT ON! She listened to everything I said and stayed within my budget, knows colors and dimensions and knows what works best together. OMGosh!!! Such a delightful woman! I have been looking through houzz.com for years just for fun and getting idea's knowing that someday I would be redoing our kitchen. Jennifer decorated my husband and my living room and front room. She gave us a design idea, multiple places we could find the design aspects like a couch, decorations, and rug, and she also brought us items. She had an initial meeting with both of us to figure out our style and based her ideas on that. We gave her a budget, and she was very respectful to follow it. She was easy to get in contact with and was always open to talk to us about any ideas we had. Jennifer is very friendly, and she has a great eye for pulling patterns and colors together that look beautiful. I have a living room that looks like it is straight from a magazine, and I love it! I could have never had anything close to what I have now on my own.

I have been working with Jennifer from The Old Painted Cottage since 2011. I had been a faithful blog reader (http://theoldpaintedcottage.com/) and admirer of her style for a long time before getting the courage to contact her to see if she would agree to a design consultation to help me revamp my living room. My husband and I had recently moved into a 1960's ranch - that still looked like it was from the 1960s! I was so frustrated with trying to "design" my house on a budget and getting nowhere – I desperately wanted and needed help. I kind of knew what I wanted to do and the styles I admired, but I had no idea whatsoever how to create it on a realistic budget in my own home. I hired Jennifer to teach me how to beautify my living room. And oh boy - I cannot say enough about how absolutely wonderful it was (and has been since then) to work with Jennifer! After sending her the dimensions of my living area and images of living rooms I loved (many of them here on Houzz), we scheduled and had a phone consultation and OH.MY.GOSH! Jennifer's energy, excitement, ability to translate what I wanted to the redesign of my space - and all within my budget - was incredible! One of the most amazing things about Jennifer is that she patiently taught me many interior design secrets that I never knew but have since been able to apply to my whole home (e.g., hanging drapes higher than the top of the window, displaying décor items in threes, adding pops of complementary color, etc.) Needless to say, it is 2014 and Jennifer has let me hire her to design almost every room in my house! Since 2011, I’ve had two babies and she helped me design both nurseries. Jennifer also helped me revamp my master bedroom, TV room, and the sunroom! Currently, we are doing a whole house consult on a little lake cabin my husband and I recently purchased. Overall, Jennifer is a consummate professional, her fees are ridiculously reasonable, and she is able to “get into a space” and transform it simply by looking at before photos. Jennifer is a gem!
