As co-owner and design director of the Cazenovia, New York home furnishings retail mecca JD Hunter/home, John David Hunter has built a reputation as one of the most innovative and accomplished architectural and interior designers in the country. Hunter’s projects span from coast-to-coast, with a portfolio that ranges from full redesigns of existing homes– interior redesign as well as full-out structural changes and additions– to landscaping and pool design. John David Hunter designs smart kitchens– innovative, functional, flexible– perfect for people who really do cook and entertain. “I design kitchens for the way people are most comfortable cooking, living and entertaining today,” says Hunter. By incorporating all three areas, Hunter creates living spaces that are just what his clients want. Hunter attended Ecole des Beaux Arts in Montreal before becoming a staff interior designer in New York City’s Bloomingdale’s in its heyday. Building off his knowledge, Hunter began to design for clients around the world before founding the successful Connecticut business, Tulip Tree Collection, with Winston.

I don't think he is allowed to use the term 'Architectural' under NYS law. They took an upfront $500 fee, ignored my instructions, ignored my preliminary drawings, and then ignored a tape measure. Mr. Hunter, 144 inches is not the same as 14' 4". 2 courses of 160 year old brick cannot be ignored. You know where to send the refund. Jason Law

We used John Hunter and Bob Winston when we bought our home in Connecticut. They helped us to decorate and choose beautiful items that we are still very happy with. We bought furniture, lamps, rugs, had chairs upholstered....we miss them.

This team is above and beyond our expectations. They designed a renovated kitchen and adjacent sitting area for us. The most impressive thing to me was that at our first meeting at our home it took them maybe 30 seconds to see the project needed to have more windows and to relocate the sliding door to the patio. Once that was determined everything else fell into place. We benefitted greatly from their knowledge of the best materials (cabinetry, sink, door and windows, etc.). They were attentive to us every step of the way right to the end of the project. The cost was very reasonable - I actually think they saved us money by helping us avoid countless mistakes. Plus, they are really nice guys.
