When I bought a 4-bedroom weekend house in the fall of 2016, I was travelling a ton for work and barely had time to breathe much less furnish a house. Meanwhile, I wanted to lure my Mom out to the house to live full time since she had just retired. So, I thought a good way to kill two birds with one stone would be to go to the furniture stores in North Carolina with my Mom and shop together. My Mom and I wound up selecting Hickory. It is HUGE but half the size of High Point with all the same stores. The deciding factor for me was the fact that most of the manufacturers are based in Hickory and Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams have their outlet store in Hickory not High Point. About two weeks prior to our trip, I began freaking out about how I was possibly going to buy a 4-bedroom house worth of furniture in 3 days with just me and my Mom. So, I went onto the Hickory website and found that they have design/personal shopper assistance with a firm called Designing Women! The woman who answered the phone that day was Kirsten Hart-White, and she was the answer to all our problems. She is so hip with current trends, but what I loved most about her was she listened to us and what we wanted and was completely responsive. Adore her and cannot recommend her more highly!!! She has since gone out on her own with Hart White Interiors, and I could not be happier for her. Working with Kirsten was so much fun. Before we went to a single store we sat down for two hours and did floorplans for every room in the house. We determined what furniture we had that needed to be incorporated (not much) and what furniture we needed (SO MUCH!). We discussed what lighting, rugs, and window treatments were needed too. Then we began shopping - first the fabric selection and "soft" furniture items, then hard furniture, rugs, lamps, then back to throw pillows and custom modifications. Kirsten arranged to have a piece of furniture modified for us to create a coffee cabinet for our upstairs hallway that is both beautiful and functional. Another piece of furniture was not available in the color we wanted, so she arranged for it to be painted. My mom had two chairs and an ottoman we needed reupholstered and she arranged to have them picked up in Chicago, reupholstered in NC, and shipped to NY. She arranged for all the furniture to be consolidated into as few shipments as possible. Damaged lamp shades were quickly replaced. Custom pillows were made. Everything from furniture to rugs to lamps to bedding to throw pillows and even some pieces of art were purchased with Kirsten’s help. We did it all in 48 hours and wound up having an extra day to relax. I was stunned. Just stunned. It was so amazing that I went back when I was redoing my second bedroom in Manhattan. Even one room is worth the trip. Kirsten helps you design what you are thinking in your head and cannot do alone. We are now planning an addition for the house, and my Mom and I cannot wait to work with Kirsten again!

We met Kirsten several years ago when we completed a massive remodel of our home we built in 1968. We had finished the remodel and we need assistance in rugs, furniture, light fixtures, and accessories. Kirsten introduced us to many outlets not available to the regular shopper. With her expertise in knowledge of what was out there, we have the most beautiful rooms I could ever have imagined!!! She was instrumental in helping us get the best people to implement her designs. We met Sam who came to our town four times to complete Kirsten's plans. Also she introduced us to LunaBella lights which I absolutely admire daily. Also, my hobby is sewing and I love fabrics!!! Kirsten is so good at coordinating colors and selecting beautiful fabrics, that I turned the task of finding fabrics for curtains to her!!! My most favorite window treatment is one that she created in my sewing room!! It is very simple, but very creative and eye-catching. The trims Kirsten selected and the tassels make the window treatment over the top!!! I highly recommend Kirsten!!!
