Kathleen Dever (Allied Member of the American Association of Interior Designers) has been the principal designer at Design Studio for over 40 years. A Vermont native, she grew up skiing with her family in Stowe and was a member of the Mount Mansfield Ski Club and a ski instructor at the Mountain after graduating from the University of Vermont. Kathy’s deep connection to Stowe makes her intimately familiar with the various types of properties and homes available in our community. In addition to her knowledge of Stowe properties, Kathy maintains long standing connections with major national furniture manufacturers, as well as local connections with tradespeople of all types. This enables Design Studio to offer our clients a wide selection of custom furnishing, lighting, area rugs, fabric, shades and blinds. Kathy’s client-first approach to design takes into account the needs of the client as well as those of the space. This enables her to create versatile spaces with a timeless feel. Kathy’s skill at masterful and purposeful planning means that all spaces can be functional and beautiful.

Kathy Dever, owner of Design Studio of Stowe, is talented, creative, accommodating and made our project a wonderful experience. She gave us many design options, worked well with our personal preferences, found talented support staff and was respectful of our budget. Any problem that arose, Kathy rectified it immediately and cheerfully. The additional design accents she found gave the space the finished look that was needed. Kathy is a delight to work with every time I want to update my house. She has so many resources and yet manages to narrow them down to show me things that would work for me. I always feel that the style in my home reflects me, not an interior designer, though if asked, I’m sure she could create a masterful setting on her own. Kathy Dever of Design Studio was fantastic to work with, with great results. She collaborated with the architect and builder to redesign the windows; she was tireless in searching out the right furnishings and accoutrements; she went beyond the call to work with stone cutters and custom furniture makers to get the right materials and pieces. And she was very patient with uncertainty and vacillation. She listened carefully and found the right things to address concerns. The result is a gorgeous and comfortable room.

Kathy is the consummate professional. She is talented, creative and personable. We completely renovated a townhouse in Stowe from Florida, only needing 3 onsite visits to complete this project. She was the glue that kept the architect and GC on the same page, and worked seamlessly with both. Attention to detail is second nature for her. Dimension was critical for furniture size and placement. Every room has a flow, and is consistent with color. She even checked the paint colors at different times of the day to be sure that we nailed the correct hue and value. It is easy to give Kathy the 5 star review she deserves, and really appreciated all her efforts and personal touches.

Kathy is a true Professional. She has a wonderful sense of color, and space. Her attention to detail is amazing. She will listen to the customer and never PUSHES her ideas over theirs. But will always recommends what she feels is best. I have seen 3 homes that Kathy did, and each one is different and AMAZING!

Over the years, I have worked with Kathy on numerous projects at my house. Our house is a classic old house that needed updating and remodeling. Kathy helped us to modernize it and at the same time keep true to the value of the house. Our most recent project was a sun porch that is the envy of many.

We have been working with Kathy Dever for over 13 years when we first moved to Vermont. From custom furnishings, fabrics, drapery, rugs, lamps, paint colors, basically everything in our home, has all been done with Kathy's help and expertise. We just finished a remodel of our kitchen that she designed and worked with our contractor on every step. We have loved working with her and would highly recommend her for any project.
