Alex Conibear is a Toronto-based designer who brings to you project passion, and creative skills backed by experience with a variety of multi-cultural styles of art and architecture. Growing up and studying on the West Coast in Vancouver and San Francisco, respectively, and having traveled extensively, enables Alex to bring to her design work a special talent for practical space planning, a focus on special materials of construction and welcome use of color and light. Specialties include interior design using natural products - wood, stone and glass, and durable metals and other materials to provide functional, cost effective designs. She has extensive experience making the most efficient use of space whether for your home or recreational property, transforming your space into a new, stimulating environment. She is a graduate of the renowned Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Art in Interior Architecture and Design in their intensive five-year design program. While there, Alex achieved a showcase position for her fabric designs at the Academy of Art Wintershow 2012. Experience gained while at the Academy of Art University and related practicums included textile design, sewing, stain glass making, lighting construction, construction contracts, construction drawing drafting and building codes, giving a practical basis for choosing materials of construction, interior design accessory selection and successful execution of final designs. Subsequent to graduation she was a designer at Binns Custom Kitchen and Bath Design in Yorkville, Toronto until recently, when she branched out with her own design business. In early 2016, she was the recipient of two Awards at the National Kitchen and Bath Association Design Competition, winning First Place for best kitchen design Promotional Display, and Second Place for Best Small Kitchen. In addition, two of her design projects were published in the 2016 Kitchen Edition of Toronto Home Magazine. Volume 6, Number 1. Alex is officially bilingual in French and English, gained through education in a French Immersion program. She was an honor roll student and studied painting intensively in the Advanced Placement program. In 2007, her work was published in the Fine Arts Advanced Placement Catalogue.

Alex Conibear was my designer for a large scale, high-end home renovation. Her specialization is in kitchens and bathrooms, and she can do renderings in CAD, which is very helpful for the client and the contractor. The concept for our kitchen was inspired and complex. Alex collaborated well with the mill work company, stone fabricators and my contractor to bring the project to stunning completion. Alex is always positive, always punctual and communicates very well and in a timely manner. She is a pleasure to work with and a very talented designer!

We recently did a complete renovation in our home. Full basement and main floor gut job, except we had to live in our bedroom for 4 months until it was finished. The scope of the renovation was daunting and intimidating. Alex from Conibear Design was the best decision we could have made! Alex has energy and passion for her craft, and it was evident meeting her for the first time. Our Bungalow was a challenging space to tackle, with complex angles and a complete reconfiguration of both floors. Basically rethinking everything with a clean slate of paper. Full basement demo to the studs with new bedrooms, master bathroom, powder room, full galley kitchen, private office with separate entrance, and hiding all basement posts into the drawings. Main floor open-concept complete with massive island, Bar, dining and bathroom update. Alex went above and beyond coming up with Three Designs for the Basement And Three Designs for the main floor. We were beyond excited when she presented the drawings to us. Words can't describe the level of detail in each drawing, this gave us plenty of ideas which helped us ultimately make our decision. We highly recommend Alex from Conibear Design to come up with the ultimate plan for your next project. It's rare to find someone who takes pride and pays close attention to every detail in your space. Thank you, Alex.

I would highly recommend the services provided by Conibear Design. Alexandra was extremely professional in all our dealing with her. She sat with us early on in the project to get a sense of our style and then delivered a vision board so we could see how she saw that fitting into our renovation. She has excellent design ideas that both fit into the style we are comfortable with while also introducing us to new design styles that we were not aware of. Our project was an entire house build, and Alexandra was highly involved in all aspects - from kitchen design, to choosing bathroom finishes, to paint colours to window coverings. She was able to expertly advise on all of these projects, and made selection of finishes much easier . Alexandra has always been very responsive to emails and texts, responding very quickly to both. She has made herself available for site meetings, as well as FaceTime sessions as needed. I would not hesitate at all to recommend Conibear Design to anyone looking for design help for any renovation, big or small.

Alex Conibear is a top notch interior designer that I would recommend to anyone interested in working with a professional who is creative, meticulous and enthusiastic. She designed a unique loft space in Toronto, including bathrooms, living room built-ins and furniture, a kids room, our office and master bedroom. She impressed us with her detailed renderings, elevations and drawings and offered a number of design options for us to consider. She was always open to our suggestions and didn't take offence to our personal design considerations. Alex is well connected with local trades and supplier to find you the best products at the best rates. She made designing and constructing our space a stress free and fun experience!

For almost 5 years my wife and I were unhappy with our bedroom. A small closet system, bed, 2 nightstands, and a dresser with a TV on top, it felt unfinished, bare, and was not an efficient use of space. All of that changed when we met Alex from Conibear Design, she saw the space once and instantly had ideas for us. Alex returned after a week or so with amazing drawings showing all the possibilities. We quickly agreed on our favourite design and moved on to materials & pricing. Alex presented several comparable material options and a number of competitive quotes. From design and colour selection to overseeing installation, Alex made our bedroom built-in renovation a seamless and enjoyable process. Our bedroom finally feels complete and we can't wait to start on the next project with her!

Conibear Design was unbelievable to work with throughout my renovation. I had bought my cabinets through an auction (goes without saying that would have been a nightmare for me to put together myself seeing as the cabinets did not fit my space properly). Alexwas able to work the auction cabinets in to my space perfectly, and add on extra cabinets, crown moulding, etc in to the design to customize my space. In the end, I could not be happier with my layout and design and could not have done this without her. Shewas quick to respond with any questions or concerns I had, and worked through any issues/concerns my contractor had seamlessly and stress-free. She's professional and an incredible designer. I recommend her and trust her expertise, without hesitation

Alex has helped me with a few home renovations. She is an excellent communicator and makes you feel like you’re her only client. She will listen to you to make sure your personal aesthetic is realized. Alex really shines with bathroom renovations. Her knowledge and attention to detail with measurements and drawings is excellent, and she stays on top of the project during renovation with frequent home visits. She is always prompt and organized. Many of the trades said ours was the most beautiful bathroom they had ever seen.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to help us work through room by room in our new home. Alex was reliable and completed designs, changes, and incorporated our suggestions efficiently. Some of the projects we started with were paint colors, room decoration ideas, wall décor and art placement. Alex suggested painting the space/wall above our mantel to create the illusion of a more grand fireplace and we love it! We also purchased a large mural to go our dining room wall as suggested and guests have complimented the artwork. We then decided to take on the kitchen full gut renovation during the Christmas season. Alex was available to do home visits, answer questions despite it being a very busy time of year. Alex provided us with a number of samples and worked within the types of cabinets we were willing to purchase due to budget. The highlights of our kitchen include a custom oak rangehood, oak open shelving in our island, copper lighting and accents, a 11 foot island and many cabinets to store all of our kitchen items. We worked with Alex to choose fixtures that would work and her honest opinion left us with a glamorous kitchen design! Looking forward to moving into the other rooms to choose wall art, accent walls, and hearing Alex’s suggestions to make our home even more beautiful.

When I first came to see your newly purchased home, I was so excited about the potential it has, (as well as the amount of turquoise was in the house from the previous owners); and bit by bit we have made some great changes to fit your style and your family's lifestyle to make this home yours. The big bright kitchen we designed came together so beautifully. We both agreed it was important to pay respect to the integrity of the old home with the design, but bring a modern touch to it and I think we achieved that balance with a classic white shaker and glass door kitchen, but with a more modern layout- And those extra rich finishes (such as the copper pendants and oak paneled hoodfan) really elevates the overall design. I look forward to working with you on other projects in the home, and maybe one day we can address that hot tub that is built-in to the floor of your living room (which is also turquoise) :) I hope you are enjoying lots of family time in your new beautiful updates spaces, Alex
