Raincap Construction + Electric

In 2016 we hired Raincap Construction to build a recording studio in our basement. It has two side-by-side rooms, each built with strict sound isolation guidelines. It took a while before we decided on a contractor because this project required a lot of communication. We knew we needed to find someone willing to work with us closely. We had very specific needs for the studio, and there were a lot of small details that needed to be considered. We knew Chris and the team at Raincap was the contractor for us because of their enthusiasm for the project. They wanted to pay attention to all those details, and not just slap together a few walls. Raincap really showed us they were serious with how aggressively they worked on the estimate to get within our budget. Not only that, they fit us into their busy summer schedule. We couldn't be happier with the results. They followed all the plans and specification we set out for the project and we have ended up with a professional quality recording studio in our house. The success of this project greatly depended on a contractor that was willing to accomplish all the acoustic requirements to a high standard, and have excellent communication with us. After our first meeting, we had no doubts Raincap were the ones for the job, and they certainly proved us right. We'd happily hire them again.

Raincap construction executed a rather complex remodel for me this past year. I has purchased a small (890 sq. ft.), one story, one bedroom house with a relatively large unfinished attic in the Judkins Park area in original 1929 condition. Though some remodeling was done to the 1st floor, the major part of the remodel was to convert the attic into a habitable space with two good-sized rooms and a bathroom, adding about 480 sq. ft. to the house. This involved supporting one of the interior walls with doubled LVL joists in the basement and supporting the 2nd floor and ridge beams with three supporting columns. In addition, the team was provided with the challenge of utilizing building techniques they had not experienced before: using SIPS for the new roof and Warmboard as the subfloor for a radiant floor heating system. Throughout the building process the team of framers from Raincap was exceptionally good to work with, collegial, friendly and demonstrating all the expertise one could hope for. They happily took on the challenge of the unfamiliar techniques mentioned above, also with resounding success. They also sided the whole house with fiber-cement siding (Allura). One of the things I most appreciated was the willingness of the Raincoat personnel to consider my suggestions during the process and accept those that seemed productive. Additionally, they were most accommodating in following procedures that enabled me to save considerable money: a) Allowing me to do whatever work I was competent to do, e.g., installing the supporting LVLs in the basement, the radiant floor pex system and the electrical work b) allowing me to go with one of the crew to purchase building materials from a local lumber yard, and c) to hire the roofing crew and the SIPS, without having to incur the necessary costs of contractor markups. All in all, I was extremely happy with their work, and would enthusiastically recommend them for any remodeling work without hesitation.

We hired Raincap to do a kitchen addition to our home recently and have used them for several smaller projects through the years. We are always impressed by the professionalism of his crew and the quality of their subcontractors. They take special care to keep my home clean during construction and to minimize the impact on my family. I will continue to refer Raincap to friends and family.
