In 2023 Mr Build completed a total bathroom renovation for me which included luxuries like heated flooring and a heated towel bar. Ten months later the heated flooring stopped working due to a malfunction by the heated floor provider. I contacted Mr Build who sent over their electrician to confirm this. Mr Build honoured the integrity of their installation by replacing the electrical wiring, and a new floor in my bathroom. This required them to take out the vanity and toilet and then re-install these. Mr Build absorbed the entire cost of this repair work, so I was not facing any further renovation charges. I recommend this company as you can be confident that they guarantee their work.

We have used Mr. Build Vancouver on 3 projects over the last 7 years. We own a 1977 "Vancouver Special" house. First they enclosed my two car carport/garage. Secondly they renovated and upgraded 3 bathrooms. This last project was a renovation and upgrade of the upstairs kitchen. (spectacular). They are not the cheapest, nor are they the most expensive. Remember you get what you pay for. All their staff are very polite and do their best (for tradesmen) to clean up daily. I have no hesitation to recommend them. Give them a shot at quoting you and explaining their pricing. Good luck.

After a few years of planning, we recently had our two upstairs bathrooms upgraded and renovated by Mr. Build (Vancouver). The entire process involved installing new toilets, bathroom fans, flooring, a medicine cabinet, a sink and vanity, and replacing a bathtub with a new, ceramic tiled, walk-in shower. Everything looks great and we are definitely pleased with the end result. Kurt, and his hardworking crew, handled everything professionally from the start. We appreciated the back and forth consultation as the project progressed, as well as the high quality of the completed work. We have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Build (Vancouver) as an option for anyone's renovation needs.

We hired Mr. Build to do a full living area and kitchen renovation. They worked in a timely manner, provided excellent craftsmanship at all stages of the reno and consulted us at all stages to make sure we were happy with the way things are moving along. One of the best things about this reno process was there was no sitting and waiting around. Workers arrived when they said they would, cleaned up after themselves. I will use Mr Build again if we have another project at the house

I have been using Mr. Build for home improvement/maintenance projects (i.e., plumbing, electrical, structural, interior/exterior, etc.) for over 20 years. We needed to replace our bathtub with a walk-in shower but, as we only have one bathroom in our condo, the job needed to be completed during the two weeks that we were away over Christmas. We explained what we needed to Kurt in September and he assured us that he and his team could meet our timeline. While we were a bit nervous about leaving town and not being around to watch the progress, we were very happy with the final result. We came home to a bathroom that met all our expectations. Our old bathtub had been removed, a walk-in shower installed, along with brand new tiling, a new ceiling fan installed and the entire bathroom repainted. And it was all completed within our time restrictions. Kurt was extremely easy to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire him again.

Mr Build has done several projects for us, going back more than 10 years. They include repair of ceilings in two rooms, repair of front steps, bathroom extension and shower installation, fan installation, and foundation repairs under a garden building. All work has been carried out promptly, efficiently, and at the quoted cost. Quality has always been high, and any minor shortcomings have been fixed without question. Both Kurt and his employees have been a pleasure to deal with. I am happy to recommend Mr Build. The latest project was replacement of a bathroom ceiling, the previous one having been damaged beyond repair by a water leak in the bathroom above. Work started within a few days of contacting Mr Build and took about a week. The house is old and the joists somewhat uneven, but the finished ceiling looks just about perfect — much better than the original.

We contracted Mr. Build, Vancouver to perform landscaping, garage entry door and garage eaves repair work. We are happy with the quality of work done but the lack of communication between the Mr. Build and us, the homeowner, made the job frustrating. After quoting the work, Mr. Build was very quick to request, pickup and cash a cheque for 50% of the quote. Apparently, to be used to purchase the required supplies. We were not given a scheduled start date and called them regularly trying to nail down a start date. We had requested that the garage entry door was replaced with similar style and to use the existing door knob and separate dead bolt lock. The new door did not have 2 holes; 1 for the door knob and one for the dead bolt lock. A single unit door knob with integrated lock was purchased and installed at our cost. This new door now lacks the security of a dead bolt and requires a separate key. The landscaping repair was started before the Easter long weekend. It was very close to completion before the weekend. The back yard was left in a mess with wood, debris, dirt and nails laying around. The subcontractors’ tools and equipment were left in the garage over the weekend without our consent preventing room to access the car or workbench . We did not see the subcontractor before he left for the weekend and were under the impression, he was to return the next day to clean up and finish the landscape repairs. We wasted the next day waiting with no response to our messages and ended up tidying up the yard and garage ourselves . We communicated with the owner of Mr. Build, Vancouver several times during the project by both email and phone. Response was slow or minimal at best. We feel that a final inspection with us should have been performed before final payment was requested. It appears he was only interested in payment and not customer satisfaction. Also, a mid-project check-in would have been appreciated. On a positive note, the actual subcontractor did a good job . We were hoping this would be a company we could call on for minor repairs and other home projects. However, at this time we would be reluctant to use Mr. Build, Vancouver in the future.

They help us plan and figure out what is needed for the project, make suggestions on how best to approach the work and provide recommendations on where to shop for one-of-a-kind tiles and accessories. We had Mr Build do our renovation in our condo. We wanted to open up the wall between our kitchen and living room. With the complications of the wall being structural and containing the plumbing stack, Mr Build opened the wall to allow us the most open room possible. They installed crown moldings throughout the condo and smoothed some ceilings. We are very happy with the results. The guys were professional. We had the same 2 guys throughout the reno. They were great. The timeline was about the same as was estimated as was the cost. I would use them again and have recommended them to a friend and family.

Mr. Build is “the bomb” … as the kids say … which is a great thing! After living in the house for over 25 years and having absolutely no issues, our insurance company mandated some major repairs that we were not expecting, nor excited to be doing. But, in order to insure the house we had to find a company that could handle the job – and do it within a reasonable amount of time so we were not left with no insurance. The house is over 100 years old and 3 storeys high. Insurance wanted both exterior fire escapes replaced, along with railings installed on the boulevard steps and we added to the job with new front steps, railings and replaced the back fence and broken gate. We called three companies for quotes. It became very clear, very quickly that Mr. Build would be the only choice we would consider. The other companies could not handle the entire scope, their availability was not in step with what we needed and they didn’t respond with quotes and professionalism like Kurt from Mr. Build Vancouver did. Vancouver is a very tough market to get work done as there is so much construction that many have work with major developers, so homeowners have little choice and sometimes feel like they are held “for ransom”. From beginning quote to final walkabout Kurt managed the entire job with 3 different teams that had different skill sets and expertise. No matter what you need, Mr. Build has the trades people who will get the job done right. Kurt was always on time, kept us informed on timelines, schedule and next steps. As with all jobs, we requested small “add-ons” as we went and everything was accommodated. His teams were all efficient, friendly and hard working. All professional and all had amazing dispositions with skills, knowledge and could quickly problem solve. There were no surprises when the final bill came either. Kurt revised the quote as we went and all costs were agreed to upfront. What originated as a “must do” house expense, turned out to be a home improvement with outstanding curb appeal and an experience we actually enjoyed. Our only regret is that all of their fabulous craftsmanship is outside and we can’t enjoy it inside. We are looking forward to seeing them again next year, when they return to paint the new wooden structures. Without hesitation we would recommend Mr. Build Vancouver and if and when it’s time for our dream kitchen and bathroom, they will get the call!

In both the summers of 2017 and 2018 I hired Mr Build to do various small reno jobs around my house. I chose Mr Build knowing from various sources that they were a reputable company. Over thise 2 summers, they repaired sections of my fence, repaied small sections of siding, permantly closed off my fireplace, found 'just the right device" for opening and closing the side gate, the right fitting to allow the triple sliding closet doors to glide smoothly and not jump the track. Painted the south gable of the house. Their tradesmen were always prompt, courteous, attentive to detail - and most importantly, willing to find practical, informed solutions, seeking out just the right parts and fittings to make. As a single woman with good basic 'handyman skills, I am limited in what I can do and depend on the expertise or reputable tradespeople. I have no hestation recommending them. I will defintely be calling them again for more jobs this coming year..

We are very happy on how our renovated bathrooms turned out by Kurt, and his team from Mr. Build Vancouver. Our old bathroom shower tiles were getting moldy and leaking due to its age, and fixtures was due for a replacement as well. We hired Kurt and his team for the installation of the new replacement materials and fixtures, including floor and wall tiles. We decided to go with Kurt from reading several online positive reviews, and he made good first impression on us during the first site visit. Kurt has that punctual, positive personality that is willing to listen to our concerns. We are glad that we made the right choice of hiring him and his team. The renovation scope involved several tradesmen from their team, including tiler, plumber, and electrician. We love their polite, positive energy when listening to our concerns on site, especially from Doug that was doing most of the work. We can tell each of them are courteous, very experienced professionals on what they do due to their clear explanations and detailed work. We also appreciate Kurt coming to site visit to observe the progress during mid-renovation, allowing us to show him some areas that needed attention. Overall, my bathrooms are looking great, and a happy customer due to the job that Kurt and his team did.

We were very pleased with the work they did on our bathroom renovations. They arrived right on time, did a full day's work and removed the debris right away. Doug Brown, the man who tore out the tub, toilet, sink and vanity did a great job. He installed the new tub, and tile, hooked up the toilet and sink, did the floor, rewired the new lights and helped with the mirror. They lived up to all the things they said they would do, in accord with the budget. Again, we were. very pleased with the quality of the work and would certainly recommend them.

Frame in new walls to enclose a den with a door and closet. After semi-completion, we offered to do final sanding and noticed the imperfections in drywall and frame of door. We had the owner, Kurt, over to review our concerns, and although we agreed too quickly on the final price - it did not adequately reflect the changes nor the quality of work and the substitution of materials. A small job is never that – it always leads to repeat customers and referrals if the price is reflected fairly and work is done correctly! I see now why more people DIY!

We addressed all their concerns and offered to return to finish the balance of work.
The owner said he wanted to finish it himself and would rather have a discount.
I met the owners on site and offered a discount - they discussed it and agreed to the new discounted balance.
We did everything that was asked and the clients were treated in a professional manner throughout this small project.

Job involved repair of an exterior power outlet and installation of some exterior lighting. The work was done promptly and the electrician was polite and professional. We are very satisfied with the result from a quality, functionality and aesthetic perspective.

We hired them based on friend's recommendation to fix our leaky chimney and installation of an island range hood fan. the leaky chimney was supposedly fixed in the summer, and the staffs assured me the leakage is fixed without the need to test. When the heavier rain came in the fall, my chimney is leaking heavily. Mr. Build refuses to fix the issue and continue to claim the "part" they fixed is completely seal, thus not under their two year old warranty. I have consulted other companies later and they all said there are many parts wasn't done in the previous summer to fully repair the leakage. In a way, Mr. Build charged me for the "partial fixed" which is meaningless in the first place. now my fireplace which is part of the chimney is plagued with mildew and fungus due to all the water coming in.

We are sorry this client feels unhappy about our work completed last year.

We inspected our work and explained that the sealant and flashing we fixed was water tight and sealed.

The current source of leaks are not part of the work we did and we offered to complete the work for a minimum charge but the client declined.

Again, we take pride in our work and will be happy to fix the new leaks if the customer wishes at no cost in the spirit of good business practice.

I recently had my bathroom renovated by Mr. Build. Doug and Kurt were amazing. Everything was done professionally and on time right from the original quote to the last piece of tile. The site was left tidy everyday and any and all unexpected expenses were told to me in a timely manner.I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to renovate and fully expect to be seeing both these men in the future! My wife and I couldn't be happier with our new bathroom. The quality of work for our bathroom renovation shows care and attention to detail from the framing to the tiling. The job entailed gutting the bathroom completely; reframing the walls and ceiling; installing a new tub, toilet and wall hung sink; bath and light fixtures; and tiling the walls and floor. Dealing with a 60 year old home there were some unexpected issues once we got started but Kurt and Paolo dealt with them efficiently. Kurt was always able to return calls promptly and offer advice. When people ask us "who did your bathroom and would you recommend them?" I'm happy to say Mr. Build and yes I would.

Complete reno of ensuite bathroom. Gutted completely back to studs. Work was excellent and Doug was meticulous in his work along with great attitude. Highly recommend Mr. Build consider cost fair for work that was done. Will be contacting Kurt in Fall regarding kitchen reno.

We used Mr. Build for a complete bathroom renovation for our large en-suite. This entailed gutting the existing bathroom and installing new floor tile, replacing the in-floor tub with a large Maxx shower with enclosure tile, moving the toilet and replacing bathroom cabinets and prepping for double sinks as well as minor items. Doug did the work. He was very professional, loved his work and was exceptional. He says he specializes in bathrooms, is meticulous with his work, and offered lots of good suggestions, that saved us money and/or made for a better job. Our finished bathroom is great. We both *particularly* appreciated how tidy Doug is with his work - he was very cautious of our hardwood floors and stairs, and cleaned up the work area very well when done for the day. One thing: (as with any project) do be sure to write down all that is to be done, to make sure that you and Doug are get exactly what you want. Doug and Kurt made our renovation project a very pleasant experience and we are very happy with the end result! As a reviewer above said "We would absolutely recommend Mr. Build for your renovation or construction project and will look to them again ourselves for any future renovation" - that's us too.

Kurt & his team have done a marvelous job for us with out kitchen. We live in a 100 years old house in Kitsilano and we wanted to put in a new kitchen while maintaining the character of the house. If you have renovated any part of a house that age before you would know how difficult that is, as the construction material is none existent and you will have to rebuild it all from scratch to match existing. Paulo, one talented carpenter in Kurt’s team made that happen – his attention to details, patience & courtesy when dealing with us exceeded all expectation. Paulo is one of Mr build’s team who mostly worked on our kitchen, but the entire team shared the same characteristics. Kurt himself was also very easy to deal with and prompt in replying to all our concerns, questions and even changes that admittedly, sometimes came unexpectedly but he handled it professionally & calmly. We are extremely happy with the work done and so proud of it. We’ d definitely recommend Mr. Build !

Kurt came to my house to give a Quote two separate times, both jobs completed within the price Quoted. First to replace dry rot caused by rain and second to replace patio doors and replace the rottern frame Kurts Contractors were Efficient and professional, when the job was completed they took all used materials and cleaned up. I will continue to use Mr Build for future work that is needed on my Home

We hired Mr. Build to take on a basic bathroom renovation in our apartment. The project included gutting the existing bathroom and installing new floor tile, replacing shower enclosure tile, installing a new bathtub, toilet and bathroom vanity and sink, as well as minor items such as new lighting, bathroom fan, mirror, shelf, and wall cabinet. The professional, Doug, who came to do the work is exceptional. He is meticulous with his work, and offered many suggestions, while being cognizant of our budget, that resulted in a finished bathroom that we are very happy with. I particularly appreciated how tidy Doug is with his work - he was very cautious of our hardwood floors and stairs, and cleaned up the work area very well when done for the day. As our initial project was near completion, we then needed a bit of extra work done in our second bathroom. Kurt was extremely flexible and easily accommodated this additional request. The entire project stayed within the suggested timeline and any additional expenses over and above the initial quote were fully explained and we understood why they were required. We so appreciated all that Doug and Kurt did to make our renovation project a very positive experience and we are very happy with the end result! We would absolutely recommend Mr. Build for your renovation or construction project and will look to them again ourselves for any future renovation needs.

The facts are that the job (our bathroom renovation) was clearly priced up incorrectly because though it started out well as the job continued the builder started rushing and mistakes were made. Paint ready walls that are lumpy and bumpy! A large crack appeared in the recessed storage in the bathroom tiles after two weeks! And floor heating that does not work because the sensor was left out! Hmmmm, floor heating that does not work and covered by tiles. Oh yes, another fact is that they have refused to fix the problem without expecting more money. I would most definitely not hire Mr Build again. It was our first time hiring professionals to do work around our home and it has left a bad taste. I am not sure we would be so trusting again.

As I am very sorry this client was not happy at the end of this project, I feel compelled to share our side of the story. We have been doing renovations for 25 years and work hard to do our very best - unfortunately, despite our best efforts - projects sometimes go sideways. There are many different reasons for this but for this particular project I thought it best to put my best installer, Doug, on this site every day from start to finish. He will explain in his own words below, what took place, so there can be some other perspective. I would also like to point out, out of approx 200 - 300 projects a year for 25 years, we have a total of two negative reviews.

The following comments are from my co-worker, Doug, who completed this bathroom project:

From Doug: As the person who did the bathroom renovation, I must reply to these negative remarks with the actual facts. The heating pad, that was originally purchased, would not have worked out, so I suggested another brand that would be the proper size and installation. That was approved and purchased. The thermostat was also purchased by this customer, and did not have a sensor. I called the homeowner and explained that the thermostat would only control the heat to the selected temperature, and he told me that was fine, and was all he was looking for. Before I finished the tiles, we had the conversation about installing the last tile with an adhesive that would make removing it easier at a later date in the event they should ever want a programmable thermostat and floor sensor. This is how the tile was installed and all was OK at that time. I had even called the 1-800 number of the company to ask about the thermostat, and explained all of this to the customer.
The bumpy walls were existing walls which the customer requested we move the drainage venting to a different location to allow electrical boxes for the lighting. If there is an issue with the paint ready application of the wall patching there is no problem in fixing that, but it was never brought to my attention when I went there to address the heating pad issue.
The inset shower caddy: Before I installed the tiles on the bottom of it, I made the suggestion that we use the piece of backsplash material, as it would be one solid piece and less chance of water seeping through the grout. The customer wanted the tiles, so that was fine. I never got the chance to see the so called cracks in the grout, so could not remedy the situation, however, there were no cracks in the rest of the grout throughout the tub, shower or vanity walls.
It makes me think that the customer just wanted the marble slab installed as originally discussed, because he had already done the installation of it before I arrived to discuss the complaints.
There has never been a job I have worked on where issues have not been fixed. Being honest and doing quality workmanship is the reason myself and my company have so many repeat clients, and recommended new ones. Thankyou, Doug!

We have used Mr.Build for several years.The first time I used them I was so impressed with service,quality,and competitive price I never even considered anybody else for renovations and jobs needed doing around our house.Everywhere I look in our house and yard I can see things that Kurt and his fellows at Mr.Build did for us.Why change when you have a winning hand and we have certainly had a winning hand with Mr. Build over the years.

When we bought our house, Mr. Build was our first phone call. They renovated 3 bathrooms, installed a full kitchen, built our garage, and many other smaller projects along the way. All of the tradesmen were professional, respectful, helpful and did amazing work we are still proud to show off 10 years later. Kurt and his team at Mr. Build are a great group and we highly recommend their work and services.

We have used Mr Build Dunbar in a variety of smaller projects that have always been completed on time and on estimate. The people doing the work are polite and professional. Using Mr Build Dunbar has made it easy for me in my work around our condo. I know that a phone call will get things done properly and promptly. Over our few years experience we are confident enough that we have just signed a contract for a roof replacement covering two buildings. His estimate was well prepared and competitive. it was simple to understand. They know what they are about and easy to work with.
