Fix-it-Frank

Based on positive reviews, we contacted Frank for a handful of projects at our home. During his initial visit to assess the scope of work, Frank was engaged and receptive to most of the work, and candid about parts of our work that were beyond his interests, such as tile work in a bathroom remodel. However, to our frustration Frank has since then failed to provide an estimate as promised, failed to reply to e-mails and failed to respond to voicemail messages for more than a month since his initial visit. It seems inconsistent with other reviews, but we are not going to chase someone to try to give them work. Frank has shown a total lack of follow-up and not lived up to his commitments.

I asked Frank if he could install doors, a dishwasher and re-hang older windows. I purchased 3 doors and 3 windows. He and his assistant installed one basement window and complained it took too long, that I should get someone else to install the other 2. He installed one basement door. The second / third door his assistant measured to make sure it fit the opening, and it did. Next day Frank came to install these, but said once he read the directions he wasn't up for it. The brand new dishwasher was installed in October. January it leaked all over the floor. The assistant came, replaced a hose that was ripped - he claimed a rat might have chewed it. The next day the dishwasher tipped out of position because it was not screwed into place. The windows that Frank repaired were a mess. Broken, and cracked molding was re-used - it was up to me to caulk, putty, sand, and paint the cracked fingerprinted window molding he left . Homeowners beware.

Frank is absolutely fantastic. He is friendly, courteous, prompt, extremely capable, and always has a positive attitude. I hired him for multiple jobs this past summer in the new home I had purchased, and I don't know what I would have done without him. Among other things, he built a new closet, added a ground wire to a light switch, installed multiple light fixtures, and installed a shower kit for my clawfoot tub. One thing that I very much appreciated was his willingness to let me learn from him -- for example, I wanted to install some new trim by myself but needed some help getting started. Frank came over and showed me how to do it, but then once I got the hang of it, he was completely willing to allow me to finish the job on my own so that I could save some money. He even let me borrow a couple of his tools for the weekend! In short, I cannot recommend Frank highly enough. I would give him 10 stars if possible.

Fix-it-Frank has been to my home three times. Each visit he was prompt, courteous and did a great job! He has done electrical work, installed panel board, patched drywall, fixed a garden gate and railing, and cemented outside steps. I would recommend him without hesitation and intend on having him come back and do more work at my home.

Very great work. Definitely did his best to do the simplest possible fix, which I greatly appreciated. Was clean and courteous, and respectful of my dog. Pricing is very reasonable.
