Ivaldo has done a number of projects for us since we purchased our first house in 2021. He is very easy to work with, always takes a consultative approach, and helps us understand the benefits and drawbacks to our ideas. His pricing is transparent, and he will do whatever her can to make sure we get exactly what we are looking for within our defined budget. For our most recent project we converted our attached garage into living space, and built a small mudroom to connect it with the rest of the house. Ivaldo was able to stay within our budget and completed the work sooner than the predicted deadline. He accomplished all of that despite us adding additional work to the project including a patio with stone wall, and a small foundation for a new shed. Ivaldo is also very present at the jobs he works. He stopped by almost daily if not twice a day to check on progress, ask for our opinions, and supervise the work. His guys are respectful to our home and accommodating our dogs who can be loud and nosy sometimes. Overall we are extremely happy with the work, and to know we have a contractor we can trust with putting our best interests first.

We hired Ivaldo at our friend’s recommendation to remodel a house we just purchased with my husband. We had a deadline of 30 days to complete the renovation before move in, and Ivaldo was able to meet our deadline. The old bathroom was outdated with a tub sourround and fiberglass tub. We wanted to change everything: tile, vanity, toilet mirror, including the fan and paint. We chose the design and we bought all the materials and Ivaldo was great advising in the right sizes, appliances like a beautiful silent fan and selecting on his own marble for some detailing, and all the rough materials. His crew stripped the entire bathroom, put new tile, install tub and accessories. Ivaldo also was able to put a vanity difficult to install that we loved, and he also painted the whole bathroom. I have to say I was most impressed by his craft and how amazing the tile work was done as we had tile both on the wall and on the floor. My parents are civil engineers and later visited our house. They were very impressed as well with the work. If you want a well done work that lasts and beautiful Ivaldo is the right person to choose.

Escala construction did a complete gut renovation for us including a basement expansion, foundation work, ground water management, significant framing replacement, and then rebuilt it according to our architect's plans. They also did this in Somerville, on a lot not much bigger than the home, and with only a narrow driveway between two other houses to access it. It was a huge project that still sounds crazy to even try but Ivaldo and his team made it as low stress as can be. Their ability to do such a variety of work for what is probably a very reasonable rate is why I chose them and I don't regret it. Years later the house still hasn't needed anything and we just enjoy it. There are a few pictures of the house in the photo list (the small green house with the purple door). I would hire them for anything I need in the future.

Escala did a great job! They did what was promised on a reasonable time, nice price and they always clean after. Nice job!. I recommend it.

Escala Construction has completed several projects for us over the past few years, including carpentry, roofing, plastering and painting. Work has been of the highest quality (and as a retired architect, I can be very particular about work done on my home), and the crews have been prompt, courteous and neat. For one project, they restored historic woodwork on our home's exterior, taking great care to match the period detailing exactly, and at another time, after we suffered roof damage from a severe storm, they were here right away and had the roof weathertight the next day. Older homes like ours always need work on one thing or another, and we will continue to rely on Escala Construction.
